In Certain Cases Such As The KKK The Right To Free Speech Shouldn't Apply
I really think that sometimes people who voice hateful opinion shouldn't be allowed to voice them at all. I know this will stir up a lot annoyance, but I wanted to know what you guys think anyway

I agree, they act and speak on hatred, so why should we let them openly state that they will someday kill all the African Americans and 'Purify' the human race... Please.

The problem isn't christian hate groups like the KKK or Southern Baptists being allowed to speak. The problem is the lack of education and thinking on the part of the listeners, though that is not entirely their own fault given that schools no longer teach people how to think.

Right arguments (e.g. Evolution proves that "racism" is inanity) will stand up on their own merits and don't need an unequal platform for debate. It is the ignorant, the dishonest and mentally inferior who need - and use - censorship to prevent or promote stupid arguments and opinions.

Edit:

Bob Jones III says catholics are satanists, as do many other baptists.
The Southern Bastards - I mean, Baptists Convention is rabidly gay hating, wanting laws against it.
And many other examples. It's a christian hate group.

Free speech is only needed to protect "extreme speech" that differs from the general view point of the majority. Other more acceptable and mainstream types of, speech by definition, do not need protecting

Free speech is just that, FREE. It should apply to anyone and everyone, no matter how they use it.
I may not agree with what they are saying, but I'll defend to the death their right to say it.

Who gets to decide which groups are hateful enough to lose the right to free speech.

Probably the government. I don't know maybe the public could vote on a certain group or we could have court case. There are many ways to do it.

Then what's next? They'll keep taking away our rights to free speech!!! I don't agree w/ this group of people but I don't think we should take away anyone's rights.

As much as I strongly condemn the KKK and other such groups, and might perhaps even be inclined to want to remove the freedom of speech of such a group, I maintain that freedom of speech is a fundamental right.

If it were removed for one such group, even one inciting such hatred and violence such as the KKK, what would this then lead to? Inevitably freedom of speech would be limited on other groups, but where would one draw the line as to who would be given it and who should be not?

Though it may be unfortunate in some circumstances, everyone has equal right to speak, and express their opinion, and it is for this reason that the freedom of speech must be upheld.

If we change the freedom of speech for just one group, it could affect everyone's freedom of speech. There should be no regulation on this, I do disagree with these types of people, but two wrongs do not make a right.

I'm sorry i wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean just the kkk that was an example. I meant hate groups in general.

Cephus nailed it on the head. Free Speech is available to all peoples all the time. We can't tell people what they should be able to say and what they can't say. That is one of the rights that make America the best nation in the world.

Once you start deciding what is OK to say and what is wrong to say, free speech is gone. Well said Cephus.

Absolutely not. It's easy to protect free speech when you agree with it, the real test is protecting speech that you find offensive. Everyone has the same right to free speech, even racists. To say otherwise is to invalidate the entire concept of freedom of speech.
