If You Don't Pay Taxes You Shouldn't Vote.
I am sick and tired of the bums deciding on the future of this country. If you can remember the Gore v bush election. Gore was buying bums smokes to obtain there vote. Not to mention the illegals that are trying to obtain what we worked for like our social security, our medical our homes and our food. We spend in the year 07 336 billion on illegals benifits. We spent 275 billion on the War. ( according to Time Magazine)

How about this for conversation starters? Anyone who is a government employee cannot vote. Too much conflict of interest.

I agree with you on this point. These are the people that reward men that can work but wont.

One of the founding principles which gave birth to this nation was the settelers wanting to be represented to have a vote. "No taxation without representation." became an anthem for the nation. I believe the reverse applies if you are not willing to support the nation then you should have no say in how it is operated.

It is definately a conflict of interest situation. Who would vote for someone that is talking fiscal responsibility? Not someone who's living depends on governmental giving.

That makes sense. I cannot believe they would vote. They don't support the Gov't.

I also believe that Since they don't pay income/or property tax they should never be allowed to vote. I don't know about you but I am against anyman that can work but wont. To me that man is a cancer on society. I know in other countries like in Israel if a man doesn't work but has the ability to work he is thrown into jail. I am really tired of these illegal aliens telling us what is right. I am also tired of them telling us if we don't speak their language then we can't obtain jobs. That is bunk. My mother can't obtain work where we live because she isn't bilingual. ( which where we are from is spanish and english) I am a patriot. There is no room for nothing but 100% american---Teddy Roosevelt. I am also tired of them bringing there corrupt doctrine over here and ruining our land. This land was founded on the bible but the illegals get their people in congress and tell us that the 10 commandments are outlawed. To me If you aint christian then you aren't american! (my opinion)

Agree, and add one more criteria...If you receive govt welfare aid, you shouldn't be allowed to vote. Maybe that would encourage people to actually gte a job.

If someone can't get a job, I think politics are the least of their problems.

The government's decisions affect everyone, so everyone who can be trusted to vote (ie not children) should be allowed to. This proposal would just disenfranchise the poor even though they are part of society too.

As for voting by self-interest, why do you assume it is limited to the poor. I could make the argument that those who pay taxes shouldn't be allowed to vote, because they'll just vote to lower taxes every time. That's obviously ridiculous, and so is this suggestion.

Quince- This is crazy reasoning on your part. It IS their money. Voting to protect something you already own is a lot more understandable than voting to get something someone else owns.

They should still have a vote, they live there so they have a right to vote.

No not at all, people who have a right to vote should be made to vote, as they are in Australia. Then the right policies will be adopted. A bum might take the ciggie but he would probably vote the other way if push comes to shove.
