If We Didn't Have The Pleasure Stimulus To Eat Or Have Sex We Could Die Of Starvation Or Not Produce.
We often say we are the only species who eat for fun or have sex for fun but there is a reason behind that. It is still a survival instinct even though we call it pleasure. These pleasures are built into our genetics to insures that we don't starve ourselves to death or decide that producing is no longer desirable or needed. Even today, the more money people make the less kids they tend to have. Take out the desire to have sex, who knows.

I agree in the main, except that part about us being the only ones who eat or have sex for fun. That simply is not the case. When my fat @ss neighbor dog humps the tree stump in his yard he sure looks like he's having fun.

 well, boys will be dogs - I meant - boys...........(just kidding).
oh well, dogs always get a bad rap no matter what.
isn't that the reason for the saying, "it's a dog's life" ?

We don't have children for the sole fact that we get to perform the "act". If it was painful people would still do it. You'd need to remove the watching your child grow up stimulus along with many other pleasures.

Food stimulus: Do you have a pleasure stimulus to go to the doctor (maybe if you're a hypochondriac)? We want to live. We want to live because there are many pleasures in life other than food. Stop looking at this from a big picture perspective and pretend it is you. Would you let yourself starve to death?
Would never have children just because you didn't enjoy the act of sex?

 I doubt if it was painful we would or it would be a very small number for those who find pleasure with pain. After all we have bondage.

I probably wouldn't have children if it wasn't pleasurable. Many people walk around today never having children in a world where sex is pleasurable.

I probably would not let myself starve but i could be malnourished which could cause other ailments for an early grave.
