The devil isn't in charge of Hell, so he doesn't have power there. God is all-powerful, and He is
the one that punishes people in Hell. |

The devil does not reward or torture anyone in hell. The devil roams the earth ("Job" says it). He's
not in hell now, waiting for souls to enter Hades. In the end, he will be in the Lake of fire with
all who are disobedient and not forgiven. The Lake of fire is mentioned in Revelation and is called
the second death. I think that hell is different than that lake, and that it is a temporary holding
place until the end of the age or something. |

First of all, nobody knows how hell is really like. Maybe the devil DOES give out rewards, but we
don't know it. Or maybe it really is just a horrible fiery pit. We don't know. In the book
Dante's Inferno, the devil is said to have absolutely no free will, because free will is actually a
gift from God, and he's stuck in a lake of ice and can't move or do anything that he wants to. And
since God made hell for the devil and his followers, maybe it's God's "time-out corner" so to speak.
The devil's being punished too, so maybe hell has nothing to do with the devil at all. In other
words, hell is God's creation and the devil and all who dwell in it are going to be punished. Why
would you get rewarded for being bad? |

Ok, I’m just following the internal logic of the old stories here. Maybe he’s just psycho and
can’t resist abusing the people he hates so much. But then isn’t the real torture supposed to
being out of god’s sight or something like that? So maybe it is all tea and crumpets but it’s
awful anyway because god won’t return your phone calls. Or maybe it is like professional
wrestling; they talk real big about kicking each others butt, but back stage their all chummy while
planning the show for the next night. Or maybe we are all just gods imagination and we are like we
are because god is full of neurotic self-loathing as well. In which case hell might just be a
therapeutic effort to get rid of god’s issues. |
