If Someone Comes On This Site Crying Out For Help, You Shouldn't Kick Them In The Teeth.
You could be the last contact they have in the whole wide world.

If the person in question really needs assistance, then yes, you should help them. If it consists of meaningless drivel such as what color should I, like, paint my nails, then tell them that they're wasting your time.

I believe that we must show compassion for fellow mankind and that anyone who ignores a person's call for help does not deserve to be called a human being. Each and every human life is unmeasurable and must be cherished and saved.

Is there anything quite so under-rated in this shallow, plastic, global, fat, tall, short, skinny-latte, kiddy-meal-and-free-toy, United Nation's World, than a bunch of hypocrites on the other side.

Miller raises a valid point at the bottom of this debate, you have all condemned him for the very reasons you are suggesting someone crying out for help should be condemned. Shame on the lot of you!

All of you on the Against side are now found ''Guilty,'' of hypocricy.

Maybe they deserve it. Leave it to some random user to be harsh! I guess this site wouldn't be complete without someone like Cephus.

If the suicidal person is an arrogant waste, then I would literally kick them in the teeth.

Not particularly, by making someone realise the consequences of their actions and how weak they sound it will make them want to better themselves. Cephus comments may actually end up helping more than someone simply begging for someone not to kill themselves.

In my opinion you should have a justification to kick someone in the teeth - but you should always expect to be kicked in the teeth by others.

I'm no fan of kicking anyone in the teeth anytime. However, THIS IS A DEBATE WEBSITE, IT'S NOT A SUPPORT GROUP. Anyone who seeks out a debate website clearly wants to express themselves and challenge others who are expressing themselves, too. They came to the fight, they didn't have the fight come to them.

A person crying out for help on For and Against is analogous to an investor crying out for help in the stock market: They were so happy to take the first plunge because they thought they'd surely have riches, but then as it turned sour they thought it so unfair. Never mind the fact that if their fortunes were better they wouldn't have much sympathy of their own for the other people losing while they're gaining.

Oh, one more thing, although it is indeed possible someone suicidal is posting on here it's also possible it's one of the phony avatars about to be phased out and replaced by something different. That's what I believe happened to the "Scorpion" avatar about a year back.

Trust you to be your modest deliberate unassuming light-under-bushel self Gren always playing to your strengths, and avoiding exposure of yourself on weaker fronts...;-)
As for the Stock Market today: ''Hellium was up, feathers were down, paper was stationay, florescent tubes were right down in light trading, knives were up sharply, pencils were down a point or two, elevators were up and down, esculaters experienced a slight decline, mining equipment hit rock bottom, sun peaked at midday, the market for raisons dried up, there was no move for artists' models, vacuum cleaners picked up, caravans were trailing, socks were unchanged, balloon prices were inflated, and the bottom fell out of disposable nappies.''

It is so good to learn you wouldn't kick anybody in their teeth when they are a bit down on their luck, just direct them to us sharks on the market, we will soon have them jumping off of bridges!...;-)

I agree with Cephus, a person doesn't come on to a debating website and announce they are going to commit suicide. And they certainly don't then stick around to answer comments. It is ridiculous to sugges they are serious. I'm personally not for kicking someone when they're down but in those circumstances where you're being lied to I won't stand for it.

Well sit down then and think about the reply I have just given to Cephus's response below.

Yes, I am. But I recognize a load of meaningless whining when I see it, I've seen enough of it in my life to know that people who get online and threaten suicide are not remotely serious, they just want sympathy. Anyone who is serious about killing themselves will just do it and not bother advertising the fact.

Stop falling for the rampant stupidity. Oh wait, I forgot who I was talking to.

Obviously someone who is threatening suicide is crying out for help when they come on a site like this. However, there is a huge difference between being sympathetic, and empathic. You kick them in the teeth without offering them a lifeline. It's kinda like keeping your foot on their head while they are drowning.
