| If Society Has Separate Legal Processes For Trying Children Differently Than Adults Then No Child Should Be Tried As An Adult |
| Children are tried differently for crimes than adults. Once in a while the crime by a child is so extreme a judge rules that child can and will instead be tried as if they were an adult. I'm not defending the child committing that crime nor saying they should get off more leniently, but it is inconsistent and unfair that a handful of children get cherry picked to be tried as adults. If it simply came down to severity then why not make all laws based on severity? It's inconsistent law. |

They don't charge immature 18-year-olds as children. If it doesn't work both ways, it shouldnt work
either way. |

Basically, we leave ourselves the wiggle room for the children we really hate. |

If a person at the age of 17 and a half rapes and murders a little girl, then he should be trialed
as an adult, and receive full punishment. I know your statement says that you don't want them to get
off more leniently, but if they are trialed as a child, I think they can't give the criminal the
punishment to its full extent. But then again I am not an expert in law, so I can't say for sure. |
