Excuse me how many people do you hear die from barbecue smoke? Your debate is silly and you need to
re-think it. Fags are addictive you don't see people running shouting oh god i need to breath some
barbecue smoke |

Your logic is flawless. We ban smoking because it causes health problems from the smoke. Barbecuing
causes health problems from the smoke. There for barbecuing should be banned in any public building
like smoking.
Problem is tho that inside barbecuing is rare. |

Although I am a smoker and feel banning smoking in the outdoors is ridiculous, I don't feel that
exposure to an occasional barbecue is any more harmful to one's health than walking past someone
smoking a cigarette in the outdoors. If a group of smokers is congregated near the entrance of a
building, I can see a point in the logic of banning smoking in that area, but to ban entire parking
lots and other large outdoor areas is becoming a huge frustration to me. I do try to be
considerate. I was more considerate, to be honest, before I was told where I could smoke. Now, I
have no choice but to light up in areas that it is not allowed in because otherwise, I would not be
able to smoke at all in many locations. I do think non-smokers have rights and should not be
subjected to second hand smoke wherever possible, however, I also feel smokers have rights as well.
We are addicted, not just smoking for pleasure and to torment non-smokers. With that said, banning
barbecues would be yet another thing that takes away from our rights. If we are going to ban all
unhealthy things and substances that are legal, I suggest processed foods, fast food, high fat
content meat and diet foods go as well. That would be ridiculous, but so is banning smoking or
barbecues. I understand that people may feel one is only harming themselves with processed foods
for example, but people buy these foods for their children who are too young to make informed
choices about what to eat and with obesity becoming an epidemic, I think parents should stop feeding
their already overweight kids the junk. Should we have a guard at the grocery store weighing the
children and removing fattening foods from the carts? There is so much talk of banning this and
that. A barbecue may give off enough smoke and chemicals to be dangerous if one were to sit in
front of one each and every day, but most people I know barbecue in moderation and during the warm
months of the year. Still, it is outdoors and people tend to put the food on, walk away and come
back just to check it. Not many people are standing there inhaling the smoke. |

People smoke all year round whereas barbecues are not a regular occurance. Barbecues, like people
have already said, are held out in the fresh air making it less dangerous than a cigarette, which is
properly inhaled. Also, everyone finds a barbecue enjoyable, whereas there are quite a few people
who find no pleasure whatsoever in smoking a cigarette! |

Cuz barbecues release all these carcinogens into the air that kill people everyday |

Barbecues are out in the open air, but when we talk about banning smoking, we're talking about
inside public buildings.
It's wrong to kill or hurt other people just for your pleasure. |

Ah well in a barbecue; 1.It's used for pleasurable food, so people would comment on that. 2.The
smoke it lets off isn't actually as deadly as cigarettes because, tobacco doesn't cause the smoke,
it's for and charcoal. 3.A barbecue is out in the open air so even if tobacco was used it would not
be trapped and inhaled, therefore it would be less hazardous.
To be honest smoking shouldn't be banned either but I won't discuss that. |
