It's obvious that God, if he exists, is a mass-murdering criminal with literally oceans of blood on
his hands.
It's an odd idea that you should create a bunch of creatures then watch them interact with one
another, leaving them free to act however they like including to butcher one another, as a great
moral experiment. If you took a bunch of orphan babies and placed them on a remote desert island
somewhere, allowing them to grow up Lord of the Flies-style just so you could watch the great moral
experiment, it would be considered an outrageous crime. So how is it different when god does it?
Even if you discount the suffering which arises from human choice, you are left with the immense
amount of suffering which arises from random impersonal events such as earthquakes and volcanic
eruptions. If god was designing a world for his great experiment, there was no need to design one
which had so many obvious flaws such as tectonic plates rubbing together and so forth. Even if he
made a mess of the original design, he could have intervened afterwards once he saw that the plates
were rubbing together and an earthquake was about to occur. To allow innocent people, including
children, to die because of your own shoddy workmanship and indifference is a crime which should be
prosecuted.
If god exists, our goal as a species should be to bring him to justice for his crimes. |

A few billion counts of criminal negligence and manslaughter ought to give even the J man pause.
Truthfully I’ve been looking for someone to blame. But I’m forgetting the millions of apologists
down here that will try to justify anything he has done or will do, hypothetically speaking of
course. |

We are all one...so we all will face trial then. Let me demonstrate: Universe...galaxy...solar
system...planet...atmosphere...(stay with me on this),
earth...land...animals...plants...cells...atoms...smaller and smaller particles that continue to
permeate all that exists, which includes humans and all forms of energy; You see, we are all aspects
of one ultimate reality...life. Life by nature must include everything. Why pin it all on Jesus?
What about you or me then? |

Jesus was the greatest liberator of the human race ever to walk this planet. Jesus was the model of
human perfection and correct behaviour: Clearly, history agrees, and those who do not study their
history are doomed to repeat it - the bad parts. ;-( |

We were given free will...how we choose to use it is up to us.
As for the earthquakes and other natural disasters...you want to condemn God for allowing those, but
you don't want to give thanks for the air you breathe, the water you drink, the fact that you wake
up every morning. You cant have good without bad, and the bad helps us to remember to be thankful
for the good in our lives. I know by posting this I'm going to get oodles of so fun comments, but oh
well...It's my opinion. |

Maybe the good people at the UN Human Rights Council could first manage to muster a little interest
in more earthly violations, like the murderous abuses of Robert Mugabe's regime, or at least pretend
that they are a bit concerned about the events in Zimbabwe. Then, when they are done with this,
perhaps they could chart a course of action on how to deal with Jesus, when he returns.
God has the power to avert suffering, but He also gave humans the power of freedom and choice. If
God could simply step in, press pause and put everything right when humans mess things up, then we
would be nothing more than automatons or residents of Sim City and, indeed, little better than
robotic slaves. It would also mean that Hidell would have never been able to post this debate,
because God would have intervened seconds after our Alek pressed "submit" and deleted the post
altogether. |

In that case the entire western should be put on trial for the suffering caused in the third world,
we have the finances but we find it more profitable to keep them down. |

There is a degree of humour and irony to your suggestion.
However, a) if he's omnipotent he can't lose anyway nor can any punishment stick, b) with his power
he can afford better lawyers than we can -- he'll make OJ Simpson's team look like law students, c)
his insanity defense may be very persuasive, d) "the devil made me do it", e) in the current legal
system he'd at worst end up with 6 months at a minimum security country club type of prison. |
