| If Elvis's Doctor Had Been Black, He Would Have Been Pursued With The Same Vigor That Micheal Jackson's Doctor Is Being Pursued. |
| I think Elvis's doctor was kind of allowed to just fade away. |

I know that Micheal Jackson's doctor was negligent unto death with him, but I believe if Elvis's
Doctor had been black, he would have placed under more vigorous scrutiny.

I agree with Grenache. Another difference is that medications are much more controlled now.
Doctors tend to shy away from dispensing large quantities of addictive central nervous system
depressants. Those who are liberal in writing for them face the possibility of losing their
license. Even celebrities with the money and influence to obtain the meds they want are not given a
drug used for general anesthesia at their home and have a physician standing by to administer it to
them. I do believe in patient responsibility to a point, but this doctor did give Michael a dose of
a heavy duty sedative only hours after several different benzos didn't do the trick, then he left
the room. Patients who are under anesthesia in the hospital or a doctor's office for a procedure
are monitored and commonly assisted with their breathing. Respiratory failure is not uncommon given
the potency of that drug and the fact that he already had central nervous system depressants on
board beforehand. |

I get your point but I think the circumstances are quite different. Elvis may have died from drugs
but he administered them himself and even if he had help getting his hands on those drugs he's still
the one who overdid it. Michael on the other hand was put under anesthesia to death. The doctor's
express job was to put him under, watch him the whole time he slept, and bring him back out of it.
Complete failure to do his job - the proof is the death. His skin color is immaterial to it. |
