The Policy For The 'minimum Age To Leave School Being 18' Should Be Bought Forward Earlier.
I know a lot of people who go on this site may be students under this age and may be affected by it (but not me lol). But I believe it to be a good idea. The additional 2 years in school gives the students additional time to think about what they really want to do. And if they should have a choice: Two years additional school or two years in the army in basic training. It is a good idea, and if most chavs opt for the army, it might give them a sense of respect for others.

A person under 18 yrs old is considered legally incompetent, they cannot legally sign a binding contract. Well then, how can they be considered competent enough to make the life affecting decision of quitting school at 16? School should be required until the age of 18.

Did I understand the question? I think kids should not be able to drop out at 16 or 17.

There are people who want to go to college when there 16 or do an apprenticeship.
It won't help anyway. Kids who don't want to learn disrupt the kids who do. Keep them another two years it gets wasted on telling them off. If its your choice then you WANT to be there. People who don't want to learn can work at McDonalds or something.

Some people aren't the type to go into education even longer. They'd rather go straight into an apprenticeship or a job. They can have the choice whether to carry on to further education if they want to.

You have hit the nail right on the head there keeps, rem acu tetigisti. Problem is a lot of teenagers don't know what to do, unless they are told. Ok I would suggest that it is fine to ask about things, but far better to find out for yourself. Then, and only then will they become wiser...;-)

It would cost even more to provide schooling for individuals who won't amount to anything academically. I don't think raising the dropout age will lessen the drop outs.
