Keeping within the context of your post and having history available to us (which we either learn
from or not), I have to agree. On the other hand, The United States of America was founded as a
Republic and still is to some degree. Many believe that a Republic and a Democracy are the same,
but they are mistaken. A return to Americas Constitutional principals, which governs the government
and protects the rights of the people, will keep America alive. Otherwise, I envision my country
joining its Constitutional heros in death.
There is hope. Not all is lost... |

Every great empire falls, so there is no doubt the USA will. Here are some examples:
Rome
Mongolian
Qin Dynasty
British
Indian
Persian
Greek
Russian
Holy Roman (a.k.a Frankish) |

It probably will, our government is so corrupt right now... |

History teaches us that no government is perfect or permanent and like all of the great empires of
the past the U.S. Will see it has within it the seeds of it's own demise. |

It's sad but true... Our nation is definitely on it's way down hill... It's horrible but true |

I personally don't know, when I get to be old enough, I think I will move from the U.S. Just about
everywhere seems to be going somewhere better than the U.S. |

Obviously the US will not last until the Earth dies out, however long that will take. The thing is,
nobody has come up with a better form of government, and even though there are far left nuts who
hate this country and form of government and want to see it destroyed, we will endure. There are far
too many of us here who love our freedom and the Constitution which provides for that to let it
happen. Take the recent elections, I believe people will wake up when they see how far left into
socialism the liberal politicians want to take us. Even here in America a charismatic snake oil
salesman can lie his way to the White House. But, we shall endure. To quote Mel Gibson in
Braveheart: "FREEDOM!!!!!" |

Writers are the last gate-keepers.
To hold onto freedom and democracy to the last man. |

Democracy is not the only governmental system that collapses; no one here can name the perfect
government system. The democratic system may be perfect in theory, but humans always find a way to
destroy it. |

Athens did not have a republic they were a democracy, and America is a republic with a guideline of
governance called the Constitution. We in America and England have the longest running and most
effective styles of governance ever, any downfall will be far from today. |

Well, it's actually a republic. I think that it may ebb and flow in the way it is made up, but for
the most part the constitution will remain in tact, and the government will continue. Americans
seem to have a great deal of resilience. |

No, you guys are all being fatalists. History doesn't ensure any outcome. Read David Hume if you're
not convinced of that fact.
As Charleton Heston might have said, "the only way you're taking democracy (Heston would've inserted
the word "GUN" here) away from me is from my cold dead fist."
Peace y'all! |
