Greenpeace Could Be Considered A Terrorist Organisation.
For all the good they try to do for the Earth, some of their protest ideas have verged on terrorism. Same with aminal rights extremists, they terrorise people that are essentially doing their job. Just wondered what you thought. NB: I'm not referring to every single member, just the organisation as a whole.

I might not go quite so far but I mostly agree. What they fail to realise is that by going to such extreme lengths they actually turn the public opinion against them. I say this more in respect to the animal rights protesters. Some idiotically released loads of mink from a mink farm in the New Forest a few years ago. The mink went on to savage a lot of the local wildlife, well played the activists. Not only did they cause more harm than the mink farm did they also completely lost any support they might have had for their cause through their stupidity.

Well yes. They are a party who use intimidation to advance forwards: Threats, Breaking and entering labs, ping floods on pro-fur website. They may be doing it for the greater good but it doesn't mean they're not terrorists.

Yes chaew is right. They need to prioritise. Human rights are more important than Animal rights. Nuclear Power is better in the long run, as coal releases Carbon Dioxide emissions, and renewable energy is not sufficient to power the country. The means by which Greenpeace try to obtain what they want do not always adhere to the legal method, and so they can be considered as a terrorist organisation.

Yes I totally agree. My issue is mainly with animal rights activists who send letter bombs, make vicious threats and on one stormy night even dug up the grave of a poor old lady who had been involved in animal testing in her life time. It is out of order and it appears that these organisations are more bothered about the welfare of animals and plants than the actual humans that inhabit this earth.

No. They could be falsely labelled at "terrorists", but they most certainly aren't terrorists.

Terrorism involves unexpected violent acts that injure and kill in an attempt to frighten a civilian population. For example, the US, without warning, bombing civilians in Syria last week, or Israel, without warning, bombing civilians in a refugee camp this week.

When Greenpeace does one of its acts, those who are targeted by it know the event is coming (e.g. When the Japanese who were killing whales illegally). Greenpeace has never committed a "terrorist act" in the traditional definition of the phrase.

On the other hand, Greenpeace have been the victims of terrorism - abused, shot at without warning, and most notably, when the French bombed and sunk the Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand, murdering a member of the crew.

Nah. They fall under the category of "Active-resistance protesters".

"If you vote Democrat, the terrorists win." -- Now THAT'S terrorism!

Terrorism as defined by the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1989 is"....the use of violence for political ends, and includes any use of violence for the purpose of putting the public or any section of the public in fear."

If you are saying this is the mission statement of Greenpeace, then yes they are. Or is it just a few individuals that may or may not be linked to Greenpeace.

What would the contributors on the Green Side call it when the French Government blew up the Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand??

Greenpeace is not a terrorist organization. I don't always agree with their actions but they do a good job as watchdogs for the environment. Greenpeace is not perfect but who's perfect ? You ?
