Great Politicians Are Born Not Created.

Are you saying that we shouldn't have candidates from the top end of our education system running our government? Take for instance the right honourable Peter Luff, chairman of the 'Trade and Industry select committee', top, 'Corpus Christi, Cambridge man'. He must live somewhere on the outskirts of your neck of the woods. What a wonderful decent chap he is, too. A highly respected politician. Who does a wonderful job. And, there are many more like him in our parliament, too. I agree with you that there are some wonderfully gifted, talented people out there who would make 'Great Politicians' and some who WILL get off their own bat, and go for it...;-) And, inevitably it is these people who become 'Great' in their own right, because they have experienced life to the full. And, something has stirred like a small thorn in their side, or splinter in their eye, and made them realise that they have a purpose in life. These people are very rare indeed.

They can make a huge difference in the political arena, they can't be tamed by the whip. They demand mass media attention for their dreams, which they try and trun into reality: 'Matin Luther King for example!'

I have a dream that one day this nation will live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men and women are created equal.' When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring for every village and every hamlet, for every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black and white, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, 'Free at last!'

That's emancipation.
