The thing is the government needs you as ignorant and suggestable as they can get you, yet still be
physically capable, i.e. 18. These are not however qualities that lend well to drinking responsibly.
You are at your physical best around 17. Alcohol would compromise the robust health you have at
this tender age. The military needs you at your strongest.
I don't think any body is not allowed to drink alcohol.
And it would be a very irresponsible parent who gave alcohol to someone who was not of a certain
age.(a five year old for instance)
The French have always given wine to their kids, but at the same time teach them how to respect it
and others.
It takes more responsibility to drink than it does to hold a gun. A majority of Americans have
handled guns prior to the age of 18. There are few deaths as a result. A majority of Americans have
consumed alcohol prior to the age of 21. Many deaths result.
The government deems an 18 year old mentally mature enough to be in a situation where they are killing people, risking their own lives losing their friends. Yet it does not deem them mentally mature enough to drink alcohol.
