I agree with this. Going to catholic elementary my whole life and now being in a catholic high
school and taking religion I have come to the conclusion he may have in fact existed but all of the
outrageous things people claim he has done is probably very far from reality.
There is no "God" and he isn't listening when you talk to him. |

The man in the sky is mad at you for what you have done! Eh, but who cares some caveman made that
junk up like 10,000 ago |

I agree, but its the fear of God that keeps most people from primal and animalistic acts. |

I was just thinking recently that if a politician expressed the opinion that we are living in a
computer simulation, he would be laughed at as a nut and his career would be over. But the
Simulation Argument is logically compelling and arguably supported by scientific evidence. If he
expressed the view that an invisible magical being in the sky was helping him throughout his career,
though, that would be seen as perfectly normal. |

Gods are for people who cannot stand on their own two feet and be responsible for themselves and
their actions. Just as we'd think an adult who believed in Santa Claus was odd, we should think
that of all people who believe in Gods over the age of, say, 12. |

"When kids have imaginary friends, and then grow up they became catholic."
Burn, Mark.
But if people are weak enough to need to believe in something else, then they are perfectly entitled
to do so. |

I will say this again. How does our breathing or thinking or anything we do prove that God exists?
Simple it proves nothing. Make a rainbow on a perfectly sunny day, part a lake, bring someone
obviously and completely dead back to life. Until you do that God is in your imagination. |
| |
|
| |
|

Unfortunately, deities are indoctrinated into people from a young age. It is difficult for people
to question years of received information, jut like members of cults who have been thoroughly
brainwashed, it is not an easy thing to realise that one has been duped. |

That pretty much sums it up. It may help people to have this imaginary friend for solitude, and to
give answers to why we are here etc but that doesn't make god any more real.
One more time; if you need a god in your life and it helps... Good luck to you, all the best, just
keep it to yourself and don't let it interfere with fact. |

I agree. The short answer is I am an atheist. But I have always liked the intellectual conceit of a
personification of redemption (Jesus). Not to mention the concept is rife in western culture. So I
tend to think of Jesus sort of like Archie Bunker or Fred Sanford in that they are imaginary
characters that personify certain useful and descriptive cultural ideas. |

Well there's nothing wrong with imaginary friends as they may give the imagineer more confidence and
security. But yes i agree there is no evidence of god existing. |

This is basically a 'Does God exist' debate. I am an atheist, I believe he doesn't. |

God Is No More Than An Imaginary Friend For Big People |

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Irrefutably prove that God does not exist, and
you're right. If you cannot, then it is no use debating the topic and very unwise to make claims
like "God is an imaginary friend." |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
That's just ignorance and insult. Without basis or objectivity. |
| |
|
| |
|

I think therefore I am. And because I think I know God exists. Point at a spot on the ground then
take a perpendicular line up to the heavens. This line goes on and on, at the end of it you'll find
God! |

God is the foundation of every contingent existing thing. He created the universe and everything in
it ex nihilo. He is beyond our imagination and He did not create us to merely be "friends" with Him.
Jesus Christ, His Son and coeternal part of the Trinity, humbled Himself and came to earth as man.
He fulfilled the requirements of the law and live a perfect life. He was crucified and dies for your
sins and mine. If you are His elect the you will come to know Him and give Him glory for being
Creator and giving you eternal life.
As far as "proof" is concerned, God's existence and our contingency upon Him is the only basis for
proving anything else. Every thought, every law of logic, every scientific law, every moral
inclination we have and hold as normative are all professing to the truth of the Christian Theistic
God. If God did not in fact exist, you would have no ability whatsoever to even attempt at a cogent
rational defense of your contrary position. Basically, the sheer fact of your antitheistic disbelief
proves the very existence of the God you so hate. |

God is the creator of all mankind. He is a friend, but he is NOT imaginary. Why would you think that
he is just an "imaginary friend"? |
