Stoning,
Burning alive,
Torture,
Genocide,
fratricide,
etc etc etc.
All in the book of "god", I would imagine all of these cause suffering and as most believe the book
to be the word of God I would say yes god caused suffering. |

Suffering is caused by man and the devil. Not God. God gave Adam and Eve free will and they chose
to exercise it in the wrong way. Fortunately, Glory to God, in His compassion He made a way for it
all to end for those who admit they are sinners and that The perfectly sinless Christ, Jesus,
willingly paid the price for all sin if the sinners will acknowledge this, repent, and try their
best to reform. Even the most habitual sinner, if they are trying will be forgiven over and over by
turning to Christ and continuing to try. Most find that over time much progress can be made in
avoiding sin. However, it is a never ending process until our death. God wants our company and He
wants us to provide good company-pure and clean as He is. Like a good parent, He is willing to wash
us over and over again if we really want Him to. Just ask Him to help you and give it time. Trust
Him, please. I pray God blesses everyone who reads this. Amen. |

"Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional." (forgot the author of that quote). In other words, if
you suffer, that's your own problem.
Bad things in your life are accidents. People aren't suppose to get cancer or get radiation
poisoning. It's just that we live in a place called earth, and earth is filled with mistakes and
flaws. The devil may or may not have a hand in this. However, suffering is kind of good for
you...if you suffer, then you will go to God for reassurance and grow stronger in your relationship
with Him.
And for you people that say that God created suffering because of the flooding of the earth and
whatnot...that is not suffering. That is punishment for being horrible sick sinners and not doing
what God asks, which God has a right to give. |

I think god didn't cause the suffering. Suffering just evolved to help an organism make decisions
with limited time and data |

Usually the logic goes something like this: 1. If God is all powerful and all good, then evil and
suffering would not exist. 2. Since evil and suffering exist, God is either not all powerful
and/or not all good. However, the premise of this syllogism is not true and should go this way:
1. If God is all powerful and all good, then evil and suffering wouldn't exist unless God allowed
it and had a purpose for it. 2. Evil and suffering exist, therefore, God is allowing it and it has
a purpose, for now.
Some side issues. Evil and suffering are not "things," that were part of creation, therefore
they were not created by God. God created free-will and it is through free-will that one can choose
to relate to the creation in a good way (the way things were designed by God) or not to choose to
live according to God's design and plan. It's kind of like a knife. The created knife is neither
good nor bad. But if an agent with free will chooses to use it to help, like in the hands of a
surgeon, then that is good, if another agent chooses to use the knife to kill and steal, then that
is evil and causes suffering. |

Hate for God caused suffering.
In the words of Yoda..."fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering." |

That’s right. In fact suffering is just a broad term representing a series of hard wired
physiological process that evolved to help an organism make decisions with limited time and data. |

God is testing us..its people who cause the suffering. |

Of course I do. What else would I do up here? 'Nothing' has the point. You will burn in hell if you
don't...LOL. I'm sorry, I couldn't keep this charade up any longer. Heaven is hell! The God (ME!) is
the devil. And even if you believe in me, you will still burn, in the fiery pits of heaven. Just for
sh1ts and giggles. FEAR ME! |

While there is no reason to think God is any more than a fairy tale, this is really a silly
question, the Bible is quite clear that God did, indeed, cause evil.
Isaiah 45:7 - I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do
all these things. |

If god created everything, then he created suffering. |

Suffering was caused by God to prove to him that we would believe and obey him no matter what
tragity befalls us. Read Job. |

For the purpose of the question, assume God exists (he doesn't but we'll pretend.) God is
omnipotent. Therefore, nothing can occur that is contrary to the will of God. Suffering must
therefore be the will of God. |

I really find it astonishing that someone in this day and age can really honestly believe this sort
of stuff. It's childish and quite embarrassing.
Aside from this, if god was the original uncaused and only 'thing' before the universe was created,
then he created the devil and therefore created evil and caused our suffering. Believers cant win
this argument, they've shot themselves in the foot with their own silly mythology. Please try to
grow up, if i said to you that our suffering is caused by hades because he wanted to get back at
zeus you would think of me in exactly the same way as i think of you. |

The only thing "Satan" can cause is fear in humans. |

I'm not sure it matters. If God exists but can't stop suffering I see very little reason to believe
in him. I exist, I'm not omnipotent. I'm not worshipped.
An no, I don't agree Satan causes our problems. |

The very question is flawed. If the existence of God cannot be proved then the probability of his
existence is so low that by scientific measure he cannot exist. If god does not exist your question
is pointless. You might as well have asked: "is all the suffering in the world caused by a six foot
man with the head of an owl and a body of a cat who lives on the moon?" The probability of that
entity existing is the same as the probability of there being a god. |
