Global Warming Is A Natural Cycle That Is Not Caused By Man.
As I write this, I know what my first responses will be. "you're ignoring the the and/or statitstics." "the evidence is everywhere." or more drasticly, "you are a puppet of the oil corporations." In fact, It is well documented that there is a 1, 500 year cycle, that is caused by sunspot cycles. I could go on, but this is an intro. Not a debate comment.

These kind of debates are always the best because you have the people who go along with the general populace and the intellegent ones who know what they are going on about. I believe myself to be the latter. The key word here is "caused." We are not causing global warming, but instead minutely "contributing" to it. One word makes all the difference

There have been periods of hot and cold throughout history, and we JUST got out of a little ice age. I think we are just scared because we now have the instruments to ell.

P.S. - My SUV ate Al Gore

Hmmm.
I think you are right in some senses.
But we have "helped" global warming a little.
But not to the point where it is our fault

Yea, the government try to make us think that its all down to us and its just a ploy to make us spend money in energy saving things. Global warming is a natural process, the world will naturally heat the most we are doing is speeding up the process

mostly right, except that it's actually the various environmental organizations that are making us feel guilty. they're just using the government as a reluctant weapon.

The Earth has always had warming and cooling periods, and we have effected it, just not enough to kill us all. All the REAL science says that we will NOT be underwater in however many years. I say Real science because the fact has been raised that only the scientist who say we are warming the globe are being interviewed. When in fact the scientists who say Global warming isn't happening out number the ones who do 10 to 1.

I don't totally believe global warming doesn't exist. There is some proof but it is really sketchy and not always consistent. There is definitely a cycle the world goes through, but I think there are things people could do to help keep the world in a little better shape.

Absolutely. there is no excuse for mowing down the rain forest, or the intense poverty of the third world.

Everything I have read, says that man is not responsible for the so called global warming. I have even read where scientists are stating that we are in a cooling period now.

Not to say that man can't affect it. But we have much much less effect than we think.

Dude! Thank you! I made a debate on the exact same thing just a couple of days ago! It's under Global Warming Does Not Exist if you want to leave a statement.

Overpopulation heats up the planet... Go to NYC in the summer the air is staggering...go just over the Tappan Zee into a rural area... Forty miles away...the air is far less intense...Can the weather be munipulated to some degree...yes.... Cloud seeding in the northeast is a daily occurence...planes flying overhead releasing streaks of aerosol (usually compounds heavier than ooxygen/nitrogen and h20) (silver iodide is one example) that streaks across the sky... Multiple application per day...many times applied at night...What I think this does is create a low pressure atmosphere which will keep temperatures warmer... When high pressure moves into an area the sky gets extremely clear and much colder...the application process has to start all over again....Low pressure is like a blanket of clouds that keep heat from escaping...All to munipulate energy spending... If the air is warmer we use less heating fuel... The northeast consumes the most heating fuel so we see cloud seeding all the time...In the summer, cloud seeding has a reverse effect by causing down pours and more consistent rainfall to cool temperatures so we use less energy...Extreme weather such as high numbers in extreme cold or heat seem to be less than many years past... But average temperatures have gone up... In August the Northeast would have unbearable heat waves.. Mnay more colder days below 0...I see that this is far less...Now the question lies can they munipulate jet streams yet... The HAARP project...that may have an impact on weather... Amazing stuff...

interesting. however the heat you are feeling in NYC is not global warming, but the urban heat island effect. the urban heat island effect is from asphalt and concreate releasing heat. average temperatures have gone up most likley because of increased construction, not global warming.

So it's just a coincedence that at the time of the first factories and and the first cars the earth just happened to start warming up.

wrong. even if the earth did start warming at that time, it wouldn't be because of the industrial revolution, because it would take a long time for our emissions to take effect on the climate.

Don't be ignorant. Everything that is going wrong with this Earth is OUR fault. Man is destroying it...

It might be a natural cycle but we don't help the fact by using things that speed the process up

How can you not say that man is not responsible? Where do u think all the fuels from the cars go...you think they just disappear? The fact is because of our own inventions we have people dieing because of violent storms, deforestation. We all have to accept the fact that the major changes that are happening in our world, we are responsible for it...every single one of us.

well, let's start by saying that co2 only has POTENTIAL warming effects(i.e. venus).
next, the environment actually emits more methane, and co2 then we ever have. don't believe me? well we all know that when something decays, it emits co2.
why does this matter? find me an outdoor surface that doesn't have somthing decaying on it.
next, the ocean also emits co2 from multiple underwater sources, both organic, and volcanic.
and finally we have volcanic activity, which speaks for itself.

further on, there is of course, the famous 1,500 year cycle. this cycle is formed by sunspot variations. when sunspot levels are low, there is less solar radiation to block out cosmic radiation. when cosmic radiation reaches earth, it ionizes water particals in the air, stimulating cloud formation, which in turn blocks more solar energy, creating lower temperatures. when sunspot levels are high, it blocks out cosmic radiation, stiffling cloud formation, which allows more energy to reach earth, causing increased temperatures.
did I get through to anyone?

There is a natural cycle, but we have gone far outside of it's boundaries. There is two possible reasons for this.

1. Human kind is causing global warming.
2. As the solar system accelerates towards the galactic equator towards interception in 2012, the sun's solar activity is increasing leading to warming. This is not caused by man.

actually, we are not out of it's boundaries. the climate cycle is what is called an irregular cycle.
this fluctuation we are experiencing is a very small one, in comparison to ones we've faced before.

True and untrue. Statistics do show that there were cooling periods in our history but that doesn't mean we cant effect these cooling periods and increase their magnitudes. One may have noticed that even during these cooling periods we still had polar ice caps while now we are losing them at huge rates. If all the polar ice melts the water to salt ratio will change drastically and might cause a much greater cooling period then the previous ones.

during cooling periods, the ice caps drasticly expand. in warming periods they drasticly shrink. It's part of the cycle.
