It is really a fact that Glasgow is really a bigger city and also the other facilities in Glasgow is
even considered to be better than any other city. Thus Glasgow can be made the capital Scotland. In
terms of communication Glasgow is better than Edinburgh, if economic matters are taken into
consideration then also Glasgow exceeds Edinburgh, in terms of economic growth Glasgow is better
than Edinburgh. Thus there is absolutely no such reason as to why Glasgow shall not be made the
capital of Scotland when it is having all the possible and supportive reasons to be the capital. In
UK anybody who has been to both Edinburgh and Glasgow would definitely prefer the later to be much a
better and bigger city than the other city. Glasgow is also developing day by day and that makes it
even more stable than Edinburgh. |

Glasgow is the best city in Scotland - far better than Edinburgh! It is a vibrant and growing
cosmopolitan city bursting with culture and entertainment.
One of the best things about Glasgow is the people. The majority of the people you meet are
friendly, upbeat and out for a laugh. They are loud and enthusiastic and not afraid to give you
their opinion. They will always recommend the best bar and the strongest drink.
Glasgow is also the best place to see a live music concert. Whether its the RSNO in the Concert
Hall, the Kaiser Chiefs in the SECC or Oasis in Hampden Stadium you are guaranteed the best night
out. The crowds are the loudest and most enthusiastic in Scotland and there are so many venues
across the city you will be spoilt for choice. There is always something on for you to choose!
Edinburgh may have the Festivals but that's only in the summer. Glasgow has a thriving arts
community all year round. With great theatres like the Tron, Citizens and the Arches you can see
some of the best writing and acting talent - and it won't cost you a fortune. There are shows from
as little as £2/3 and some good student theatre around too.
The recently refurbished Kelvingrove Art Gallery is packed full of interesting exhibitions. The
Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is in the centre of town and has free entry with a lovely library and
cafe in the basement. Just of Buchannan Street only a stones throw away is the Lighthouse -
dedicated to architecture. There are so many things at the tip of your fingers in the city centre
that you barely have to walk 100yards until there is something else to look at. And unlike Edinburgh
there are no steep hills to contend with.
The shopping in Glasgow is much better than Edinburgh. There are three main shopping streets -
Buchanan Street, Argyle Street and Suchiehall Street. In the city centre there are also two shopping
complexes, St Enochs and Buchanan Galleries. There are all the high street stores as you would
expect, designer shops and small boutiques. You are bound to find exactly what you are looking for.
There is a great underground service which runs on a circle track through the city and to its
immediate residential areas. There is a train every few minutes and is a cheap way to enjoy the buzz
of both the city and the west end. There are two train stations with local and national lines, a bus
station with local and national routes and two airports nearby. This makes Glasgow a really
accessible city! |

Edinburgh may be smaller but it has far more cultural worth e.g. Fringe festival, military tatoos at
the castle etc.
And it has less crime. |

Aware of the danger of dignifying this debate with a response, there are a lot of worse places than
(London)Derry. Darfur is apparently not very pleasant, parts of Kenya have a distinct image problem
too, and Somalia carries the distinct possibility of being kidnapped.
I’ve just checked the UK’s Foreign Office web site. It contains a Travel Advice Section and as
hard as I try I couldn’t find any mention of Derry anywhere. No, not even among those flagged up
for “all but essential travel to parts of”. Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran were all up there, but
not, it would, appear Northern Ireland. Of course, Northern Ireland is part of the UK and probably
wouldn’t get a mention.
Anyway, back to more important matters… which are better, Macs or PCs? |
