George W. Bush Has Done More Harm Than Good.
Bush managed to stay in power for a full amount of time, in that time, he has wreaked havoc on the world, has he done more harm than good?

I agree! The Patriot Act is one giant violation of the Consitution and common decency in general. He's responsible for the deaths of tons of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians. He's out of office now, and I'm still shocked that he was re-elected.

Also, the decisions he made while in office hurt the American people on a smaller scale. The war in Iraq ripped my family apart, and no one in my family is even in the military anymore. My sister and I have lost friends over this stuff.

If I was not about to log off for the night, I would have a much longer comment here. I do feel the need to point out that George W. Bush is not a crack head. If people learned more about politics, they would realize that the president in office is not responsible for everything that goes wrong while they are in office. Further, the president does not have absolute power. He has to go through channels. We had a democratic house while George W. was in office. Then, there is the fact that he did do some good during his two consecutive terms in the White House. Since it is late and I am going to get offline, I am going to suggest you google it. Normally, I would spell it all out. I am, however, tired of the bashing of this man. He had to deal with the terrorist attack of 9/11. When that attack took place, all of America wanted him to bomb anyone just to make them feel better. So, he did not make all of the right decisions. That is one thing, but calling him a crack head is about as infantile of a response as one can have. If you have something intelligent to say about his presidency, go right ahead. If not, saying "he's a crack head" makes you sound like a "crack head". No type of thought went into that response. I'm half asleep and can put more thought into my words than to type a simple sentence that is not based in reality and has no real meaning.

It is a pity, but yes.

He has worsened the relations with Europe and other parts of the World.

He did not present any intelligent solution to the crisis (although I am glad that he tries at least to defend capitalism) and he has even boosted the power of the state and lead unreasonable wars.

The harm:good ratio of Bush's work is about 1 million:1. He lied to Congress about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, he cut taxes for the rich, the people who need tax cuts least, he raised our dependence on foreign oil, thereby virtually creating the recession...the list could go on and on.

How is the way he's handling the economy an upside to his presidency? How does the U.S. Have 600$ extra per person to just throw out? Not to mention what American can afford to stimulate the economy with 'bonus' money... Why wasn't that money used as stimulus... It disgusts me that people are supposed to stimulate their own economy... Since when is bush some idealist that can challenge people to do the the right thing... Its like bribes for votes in an election he doesn't realize doesn't exist... Its like postponing his impeachment that isn't even on the table... He is such a car salesman president...

He has done more damage then anybody and it will take this country a lot to get out of this mess. He doesn’t care because that’s the person he is. I will give him a little slack on 9/11 tho it would be really hard to do that part but as I am concerned on the billions and trillions of dollars in debut that is horrible he sucks and I don't know why we didn't veto him out.

While I must agree that the weapons of mass destruction were "imaginary," I must say that calling the war in Iraq "idiotic" is, at best, a hyperbole, if not a complete lie. You fail to take into account the other good reasons why we're at war. For example, while in Iraq we are supressing and harming dangerous terrorist groups. These are the same terrorists that flew planes into our buildings.

Absolutely, I support this statement keeping in view the international scenario. G. W. Bush is the man who has not only put his nation under threats but also the international community is facing great dangers due to his blunders.

The blunder series of Mr. Bush starts with the Zionist planned 9/11 conspiracy which finally led to the disastrous Afghan War. This war, better to say "War without End", has brought miseries not only to Afghans but also to the region. The series goes on and you find yourself involved in Iraq war, an absolute blunder which began in search of Weapons of Mass destruction that the fanatic Mr. Bush saw in his dreams. He is nearly to add another to his blunder tally by taking on Iran. The result of these blunders brought many economic problems for US which affected the whole international economy.

I think the driving force behind these actions of G. W. Bush, is the triangle of Zionism, greed for oil and desire for dominance.

I'm inclined to agree. His doctrine of preemptive war is terrible and gives the activity of terrorists more strategic control over our foreign policy than they deserve. Furthermore, after having an historically significant chance to reshape the UN to become a more effective international affairs regulator, he abandoned this potential in favor of a destructive war which was poorly conceived and poorly completed.

George W. Bush is surely going to win the award of the worst leader in the history of America. He is one of the most incompetent leaders of the highest power in the entire history of the world as well. Being in the seat of highest authority Bush should not divide the class what he is doing in a subtle manner. If we look upon Bush’s accomplishments, we can find a common factor that all his deeds consist of funneling of more and more money to those who have already full of it. This symbolizes nothing but the kind of class warfare. He is not busy in improving the lower class of people but only involving himself in rewarding his corporate contributors. And in his job he managed to get some people who work nothing but only show the blind obedience.

Bush has certainly done more harm than good, he's kept with the Neo-Con mantra of borrow and spend, putting us trillions of dollars into debt while pursuing his own personal crusades using the so-called "War on Terror" as an excuse. He's tried to force his own religious ideas into the government over and over and frankly, anyone who is going to stand up as a leader of a nation and say he's on speaking terms with an invisible friend in the sky needs to be carted away in a nice white jacket with arms that tie in the back.

Judging by your religious comment, i assume you believe in the big bang theory... That is obviously why you would never be a great leader such as president bush.

George W. Bush is one of the most inept leaders of a major power in the entire history of the world, maybe even the most inept. It is staggering how much damage he has done in only seven years.

David Suggs lists all Bush's accomplishments. Not one seems truly good to me. All consist of funnelling more money to those who already have it, a kind of class warfare in fact, or in rewarding his corporate contributors.

Foreign observers, like me, find the mentality expressed in some of Suggs' words frightening.

"As citizens of the United States, it is our duty to support our president in every decision he makes, else we should leave."

It's amazing that anyone in a democratic country can express such sentiments. This is the kind of thing you would expect a person in North Korea to say. The duty of a citizen in a democracy is to exercise informed scrutiny of their elected representatives, not show blind obedience towards them.

From a British persons perspective Bush has done an enormous amount of harm both at home and abroad.
He's made America and Europe targets for terrorism eg The Twin Towers, Spain, London and has made the situation in Iraq a nightmare, along with Blair that is.
He cannot communicate intelligently, he appears to be a buffoon and he is dangerous. He supports the death penalty whilst professing to be a christian and goes from one disaster to another.
There was no evidence for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and if most of us knew that how come he did. Life under Saddam must have been hell but it's worse now. He and Blair had no right to invade Iraq. They have unleashed terrible threat onto the west.
|The American voters can make sure they do better next time by voting for an intelligent, far-sighted president who can represent the US and give them credibility again in the world. I believe that Clinton can do that but it's a lot of damage to repair.

I am agree with you, however it matters not for which candidate we vote, there is documented voting manipulation. as long as there are electronic voting booths none of the ballots can be truly counted. because as Stalin said " It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.â€

George W. Bush should never have become President in the first place. The whole thing was a sham and now he is in power, and has been for the past 7 years, he has done nothing but look like an idiot... Literally.

As Spartan76 has rightly pointed out his many "accomplishments" (or lack thereof), I'll just list a few of his great quotes that he has made during his time in office (these are just some of many):

- "I don't particularly like it when people put words in my mouth, either, by the way, unless I say it" - excuse me, what?

- "All I can tell you is when the governor calls, I answer his phone." - someone obviously helps him to do that.

- "These people don't have tanks. They don't have ships. They hide in caves. They send suiciders out." - just, awesome.

- "I know something about being a government. And you've got a good one." - it's "governor" George.

- "I promise you I will listen to what has been said here, even though I wasn't here." - he's magic.

- "Do you have blacks, too?" - he actually said that to the Brazilian President. I don't think I could cringe anymore than that.

I mean, the guy is an idiot, or have I already said that? Maybe I did, anyway, hes an idiot. So much so, that these "quotes" have even been given a name, "Bushisms", which is basically a term for a hair brained comment made by someone with a pulse, but no further activity elsewhere.

If for nothing else, George "dubya" has single handedly caused more harm to the English language than anyone else of his "importance" has before.

It's sad to think that with all the great Presidents of the past, GWB will be remembered for "Bushisms". Way to go Georgie Boy!

Frankly, I can't think of much he has done for good. He eventually signed up to the Kyoto Treaty after years and years of refusing to play ball. Now he will be remembered for that. Perhaps he will also be remembered for invading Iraq and the deaths of thousand of 'coalition' forces as well as the ongoing civil war in Iraq. Invading another country is a pretty good way to be remembered forever.

He was president when 9/11 occurred. He responded by flying high and staying out the way for as long as possible. Then let's talk about Hurricane Katrina (as if 9/11 and Iraq weren't enough). He has the most power in the world and he couldn't use it responsibly to save the lives of his own people. Why? I don't need to stretch too far to point out that rich oil folk from unaffected areas, probably don't care too much about poor Black people in affected areas. They are a nuisance to them.

His total ignorance of the United Nations and his turning America into a 'Homeland', a construction that did not exist before 9/11. Suddenly Homeland Security existed, but the US is not a homeland.

He did survive two attempts by Michael Moore at character assassination, even pointing out that there are REAL links between Bush and the Bin Laden family couldn't stop Americans from voting for him. He must have been doing something good right? Well, the dollar is at its lowest ever against the pound, so it sure isn't financial.

He has practically set the Islamic World against the West. There were no suicide bombers on Western soil until after 9/11. He stoked the fires of terrorism. He and his friends and family ACTUALLY benefited financially from all of this because they have shares in all of the companies involved not only in producing the weapons, but rebuilding cities once they've been destroyed. Sell your own military weapons, then drop them and destroy buildings, then sell your services in repairing or rebuilding them. He's certainly done some good to the Bush Family's bank accounts.

So, as I said, it's hard to find any good that he's done. He 'rid' the world of Saddam Hussein and made the world a less safe place to live in the same process. Bush has to go this time.

Bashing George W. Bush is like a favorite pass-time now for the clueless.
President Bush has had the toughest Presidency since Abraham Lincoln. He's had to make the toughest and hardest decisions since the outbreak of our civil war and all he's gotten is partisan politics from the left. It seems the left would take more delight in a victory from murdering terrorist if it would mean a defeat for GWB. I'm not going to repeat all of what as already been stated but I can name other Presidents who left office in disfavor: George Washinton, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Harry Truman. Now we look at them as great Presidents. In 20 years, if we don't give our enemies the victory that Barak Obama, the Gores, Clintons and Kennedy's are so willing to give them, we will see that George W. Bush given his circumstance was one of our better Presidents....and most of his choices were correct.

Its too early to judge George Bush's Presidency...remember Ronald Reagan was villified in his last term only to be remembered by the left and right as one of Americas great leaders. W's forceful reaction to 9/11, his sterwardship of the economy which was excellent for most of his tenure and his crusade for democracy in the Middle east will figure large in his legacy.

Its important to remember that if Gore had been President during 9/11, Bin Laden and the Taliban would still be in Afghanistan laughing at the latest indictment by the Justice department, and preparing for the next attack, Hussain would still in Iraq, laughing at the UN, slaughtering Shia and Kurds, and paying suicide bombers in Tel Aviv, while restarting his weapons program.

W is villified because he took risks to forward an important security and freedom agenda, not all has gone well, but since its been over 2,000 days since 9/11 and no new attacks, it hasnt been all bad either...

History is a funny thing. There are many parallels between Bush and Truman. They both left (or will leave) with a similar public opinion rating, both left at a time when the country was at a dangerous warish time, and yet history looks back now very favorably towards Truman.

It will take time to see what fruit will come from the seeds planted. However at this time it is just a lot easier to hate and blame.

We live in time and age where reality and fiction are blurred. We live in the greatest age of information the universe has known. An age where an incident on one side of the globe can be instantaneously known to everyone on the other side of the globe. Yet this seemingly wonderful proliferation of instantaneous awareness has become a stunningly absurd tool of misinterpretation and propaganda.

The case of Bush bashing exemplifies this assertion more than anything else.

With allegations ranging from everything involving oil to plotting 9/11, the radical American leftists do all that is in their power to discredit President Bush with a blind eye to facts and deep rooted desire to rewrite history and create innuendo based propaganda that borders on insanity.

People try to use baseless arguments such as " He has practically set the Islamic World against the West". They cast such aspersions in the face of facts which prove otherwise. They make such charges despite the fact that several so-called Islamic nations are and remain to be allies. They throw such a charge about as if the jihad that Middle East extremists declared on the United States occurred because of George Bush. The fact is that the Islamic extremists have hated the U.S. Long before George W. Bush ever entered the political stage. Yet the liberal American extremists ignore this fact and claim that Middle East, religious, fundamentalists became enemies of America because of George W. Bush.

To further discredit the President, the brainwashed, left turns to Michael Moore to prove their case. They seek affirmation from not any factual evidence but rather from opinionated recreations of history conjured up in the mind of a Hollywood elitist whose only claim to fame his own biased opinion.

They use Moore to try to say that Operation Iraqi Freedom was simply an event to put oil money in the pockets of the Bush and Cheney families. Such claims are made despite the fact that there is not a dime of increased revenue into other's pockets from oil operations in Iraq or anywhere else for that matter. The word "divestment" actually disproves such a charge but evidence and facts matter not to the left wing, propagandists hellbent on advancing their dreams more than dealing with reality.

Americas radical left tries to tout that we went to war with Iraq over weapons of mass destruction that did not exist.

This charge is leveled despite all the pre-war evidence that made everyone from the Clintons to Al Gore and John Kerry to offer support for removing Saddam Hussein from power and eliminating the pending threat from his wmd programs. It also ignores the post war evidence that was discovered and showed that they were there. Such evidence was found in the spring of 2006 when over 500 missile casings were found in Iraq. These missiles were constructed for the purposes of carrying gasses yet these facts are ignored by the extremists in America's left field.

They also ignore the satellite pictures showing massive deployments of supplies from Iraq and into Syria during the days prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Despite any and all evidence to the contrary America's liberal jihadists hang George W. Bush with the same disdain that the Iraqi government hung Saddam Hussein with.

With a reckless disregard for facts and a well intended hankering for distortions the left labels all thing Bush anti-peace, anti-American and anti-people.

They claim that his tax plans and economic proposals which restored our economy and built it up were aimed at only the rich oil barons. They claim that our fighting the terrorists on their own soil has made us more vulnerable and puts us in danger. This they say as if fighting them in the skies over D.C. Or in the streets of New York is a better strategy.

The bottom line is this, partisan, leftwing hacks who idolize the Michael Moore's of the world have become so blind with hate that they themselves cannot discern between fact and fiction. There is so much information out there that non of it is sifted through in it's entirety. If the factual information out there was looked at in completion than rational, sincincere, unbiased people could understand the distinctions between the reality of what George Bush has done for America and what the American radicals are trying to do to America.

Our economy remains vigorous, unemployment remains at levels that were once considered nonexistent and our war on terror continues to thwart the hidden cowards that threaten our land.

We remain prosperous and secure while the left screams in the wind. We have a President that makes decisions based upon what is best for the nation not what is best for his public opinion rating. We have a President who has advanced the cause of freedom more than anyone since Ronald Reagan and we have a President that has advanced the quality of life of all Americans. If this is an example of one who has done more harm than good than by these standards Jimmy Carter was a brilliant military strategist and economic genius.

wow, first things first sean hannity/bill o'reilly, are you seriously saying that democrats are "jihadists"? As in they are waging a holy war against...what? libs and repubicans will always fight no matter what. second, i'm not going to argue over WMD's, i would rather stab myself in the with a dull stick, however now that we are there, can you please identify the enemy for me? if its al-qaida, we let them in and give them more reason to recruit just by our mere presence. if it is Iraqi insurgents, well i think anyone in their right mind would simply call these people patriots of their homeland, just as our forefathers were considered terrorists by the British. we are occupying their land without warrant. if all we are doing is mediating a civil war, if its going to happen its going to happen. not to mention the exorbitant amount of heroes and dollars we have paid for this war. and as far as advancing the quality of life for ALL Americans, try saying that to someone who just got their house foreclosed on. or maybe some the veterans of this war that are mistreated and thrown to the side like so much garbage. and the fact that our national debt is now 9 trillion dollars and continues to grow by 400 billion a year. please explain to me how these are good things.

George W. Bush may not seem to be the wisest person in the world, but what he lacks in the way intelligence is commonly expressed (good manners, common sense, and linguistic abilities) he easily makes up in charisma and passion, both for his country and for his people.

His contributions to this country, that is his passion, are beyond compare. Consider all the things he has accomplished and all of them I consider of upmost importance as a strong believer in Jesus Christ and as a guy who believes in personal accomplishments rather than the government giving everything to all people, socialized.

+Budget, Taxes, and Economy
-Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history.
-Supports permanent elimination of the death tax.
-Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession, and deeply shocked as a result of the 9/11 attacks.
-Is seeking legislation to amend the Constitution to give the president line-item veto authority.
-In process of permanently eliminating IRS marriage penalty.
-Increased small business incentives to expand and to hire new people.
-Initiated discussion on privatizing Social Security and individual investment accounts.
-Killed Clinton's "ergonomic" rules that OSHA was about to implement; rules would have shut down every home business in America.
-Passed tough new laws to hold corporate criminals to account as a result of corporate scandals.
-Reduced taxes on dividends and capital gains.
-Signed trade promotion authority.
-Reduced and is working to ultimately eliminate the estate tax for family farms and ranches.
-Fight Europe's ban on importing biotech crops from the United States.
-Exempt food from unilateral trade sanctions and embargoes.
-Provided $20 million to states to help people with disabilities work from home.
-Created a fund to encourage technologies that help the disabled.
-Increased the annual contribution limit on Education IRA's from $500 to $2,000 per child.
-Make permanent the $5,000 adoption tax credit and provide $1 billion over five years to increase the credit to $10,000.
-Grant a complete tax exemption for prepaid or college tuition savings plans.
-Reduced H1B visas from a high of 195,000 per year to 66,000 per year.

+Traditional Values, Compassion & Volunteerism
-Endorses and promotes "The Responsibility Era." President Bush often speaks of the necessity of personal responsibility and civic volunteerism. He said, "In a compassionate society, people respect one another and take responsibility for the decisions they make in life. My hope is to change the culture from one that has said, if it feels good, do it; if you've got a problem, blame somebody else.
-Started the USA Freedom Corps, the most comprehensive clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities ever offered. For the first time in history, Americans can enter geographic information about where they want to get involved, such as state or zip code, as well as areas of interest ranging from education to the environment, and they can access volunteer opportunities offered by more than 50,000 organizations across the country and around the world.
-Established the The White House Office and the Centers for the Faith-Based and Community Initiative — located in seven Federal agencies. The faith-based initiative supports the essential work of these important organizations. The goal is to make sure that grassroots leaders can compete on an equal footing for federal dollars, receive greater private support, and face fewer bureaucratic barriers. Work focuses on at-risk youth, ex-offenders, the homeless and hungry, substance abusers, those with HIV/AIDS, and welfare-to-work families.
-The White House released a guidebook fully describing the Administration's belief that faith-based groups have a Constitutionally-protected right to maintain their religious identity through hiring — even when Federal funds are involved.
-Issued an EO implementing the Supreme Court's Olmstead ruling, which requires moving disabled people from institutions to community-based facilities when possible.
-Increased funding for low-interest loan programs to help people with disabilities purchase devices to assist them.
-Revised the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 rent subsidies to disabled people, permitting them to use up to a year's worth of vouchers to finance down payments on homes. HUD has started pilot programs in 11 states.
Committed US funds to purchase medicine for millions of men, women and children now suffering with AIDS in Africa.
-Heeding the words of our own Declaration of Independence, the president laid out the non-negotiable demands of human dignity for all people everywhere. On January 29, 2002, he said, "No nation owns these aspirations, and no nation is exempt from them. We have no intention of imposing our culture. But America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands of human dignity." As stated by the President, they are a virtual manifesto of conservative principles:
---Equal Justice
---Freedom of Speech
---Limited Government Power
---Private Property Rights
---Religious Tolerance
---Respect for Women
---Rule of Law

George W. Bush is perhaps not the best president this nation has ever had, but is by no means even close to deserving the claim that he has done more harm than good. As citizens of the United States, it is our duty to support our president in every decision he makes, else we should leave. I support and submit to my presdident and I will do the same to any individual elected in the future, regardless of disagreements I may have in my mind.

As citizens of the U.S., it's our "duty" to keep tabs on our leadership. They are OUR representatives--not monarchs.
