I wouldn't say puppet, but Cheney is a heavy influence, backed by Bush's utter stupidity. It's
obvious that the reason that nothing gets through the Oval Office that concerns oil is that
Halliburton still has a hold on Cheney, and Cheney takes advantage of Bush to get what he wants. |

Cheney is the darkness at the heart of the Bush administration. It's clear that Bush would have been
a very bad President in any circumstances. But it is Cheney that has turned his administration from
the merely very bad to the transcendently evil. Cheney is the one behind the torture, the
assassinations, the violations of international treaties and domestic law. His henchman, David
Addington, is the bureaucratic bruiser, the Martin Bormann of the Bush regime, who conveys Cheney's
will to the lesser mortals. Bush's profound ignorance allows him to be taken advantage of by the
more manipulative members of his entourage.
Cheney is a truly sinister figure. He's the kind of person who, in the right historical
circumstances, could have emerged as a Nicolai Ceaucescu or a Josef Stalin. Of course, living in a
country which still, at least superficially, observes the norms of democracy, America, he probably
won't get that chance, although the mind shudders to think of what might have happened if Bush had
been killed in an incident attributed to terrorists.
Cheney has had multiple heart attacks. Many people surmised that he would not make it through the
term of the Bush administration. But it seems that evil is therapy for Cheney. Once he is in a
position to do actual wrong-doing, and inflict pain and misery on people, he feels fine. He will
probably keel over shortly after he leaves office, however. It's hard to say what goes on in
Cheney's mind, but some of those who knew him earlier, such as Brent Scowcroft, have said they
hardly knew Cheney any more, so different does he seem. It's possible that hovering on the edge
between life and death, as Cheney so clearly is, has altered the way he looks at things. It's even
possible that Cheney wants to take the world down with him.
A strong case can be made that it is not Dick Cheney which is the real source of Bush administration
evil, but his hideous wife, Lynn. It is Lynn Cheney who eggs Dick on to new heights of evil. Cheney
would have been content to remain a telephone line-man had not his crazed, ambitious wife demanded
that he give it up and pursue a political career.
One author wrote a book about Cheney whose title summed up the situation well : "Dick, the Man who
is President". When the true history of the Bush regime is written, it will reveal that Dick Cheney
was really in charge, and Bush was merely his front-man. |
