Yes it is. It is a growing problem in many countries, including the UK. Australia has had lax laws
on gambling for some time and so many down under have very big problems. It can take your life
away faster than any other addiction.
I didn't mind the US having such a problem until they banned internet gambling. Bearing in mind
most of the internet gaming and poker sites were British and Irish owned it was a good way of taking
the Yankie Dollar. This, by the way, was the only reason they banned it. They were not making any
money out of it, we were.
The government here doesn't see the multitude of problems gambling addiction will bring it just sees
- TAX. |

So what? Another addictive personality succumbs to something addictive. So let's ban it.
If you're concerned about people with gambling problems...fund them. As long as they make money it's
not a problem.
All addictive personalities need to stay away from things that can hurt them. When they don't, we
have to bail them out.
Fact is, the US government should never be involved in hindering healthy citizens rights in order to
keep addictive citizens away from their vices.
In a free country (not sure there is one), people who can't handle being free need to be
disciplined. I guess we all need to pay discipline school taxes for all the twits out there who
don't know when to quit.
Yep, It should probably be a crime to not be able to handle freedom. Every time somebody can't
handle it, there's somebody wanting to take another piece of freedom away. |

Well, maybe these families should be helping those family members with gambling problems instead of
judging them. After all, they say that gambling is an illness and any family member who just turns
their back on their "sick" family is a poor family member. If you are not willing to do something to
help the person with the gambling problem, then you really are no better than they are. People who
gamble cannot help it. They need help. Like people who have alcohol or drug addictions -- they just
can't give it up all at once. They need support and help from their family. If their family members
are not willing to help and support, then the family member should not complain about it. Many
people have to lose everything before they realize what is going on. It does not mean that they
cannot earn it back. |
