I don't like the idea of fur. It's not necessary. I do have to admit that I think fur coats are
beautiful. I would never buy or wear one but the ones I have seen are much softer and prettier than
the fake furs. |

Ppl who think tht "ranch raised" animals tht are slaughtered for fur live a fantastic fantasy life
with vet visits and care and actual food are the definition of naive. They are crammed into tiny
metal cages with as many as 5 other animals are most lucky ones never make it to the floor where
they'd be skinned alive. The fur industry is a sickening, vile, shallow and trivial business and it
gives us as human beings a bad name. |

Wearing fur is a nasty habit, the animals are kept in unsanitary conditions and are killed
inhumanely (almost always by repeated blows to the head so that the pelt is kept intact). For a
fashion statement it is wrong! And these days there are too many other cheap options to keep warm so
it doesn't make sense to buy a fur coat. |

Fur is BAD! Sometimes I wear my cat Sunshine as a scarf, but he's alive. I can understand eating
meat, although I don't, because it is at least useful, but wearing fur is just wrong. Did anyone see
that PETA video? I didn't even get to the bad, gory part, and I was crying, and had to shut it off.
I think it's in China, they're skinning raccoons alive! They just beat them up so they don't
struggle and tear they're skins off!! Some of them are still alive for up to 10 minutes afterward,
just laying in piles, in horrible pain, just bleeding. It seriously gave me nightmares and I didn't
even watch the skinning. |

It's wrong the vast majority of the time. But I can think of three exceptions: 1) the fur came from
a common food animal -because if it has to die for food then it is actually wasteful to not use
every possible part of the animal, 2) the animal was found dead or passed from natural causes - in
which case again using the fur actually avoids waste, and 3) the fur wearer is in a culture where
they would literally die from freezing if they didn't make use of furs - such as an isolate Innuit
tribe.
Every other circumstance of harvesting fur from animals is an abomination. |

What one chooses to wear is a matter of personal choice. People that choose to wear a fur garment
have every right to do so free of harrasment. Just as I respect people's choice of not eating meat
or not having pets I expect the very same respect back. I do not wish to live in a place (that even
has the nerve of calling itself a democracy!) that harrasses me or threatens to destroy valuable
personal property if I do not follow their guidelines. Simple put, animal rights activists then,
are criminals. The FBI and the NSA classifies them under "domestic terrorist" status and any
harrasment and threat should and will be punished to the extent of the law. Just as if I decide to
attack a vegan or harras a person that wears a fake fur, just because I like real fur. Makes no
sense? Of course it doesn't! The American Veterinary Medical Association does NOT endorse animal
rights activism because it considers its philosohpy threatening not just to native cultures that
LIVE out of the trade of seal or fox fur but it also points out that if wildlife should left
unmanaged (animal rights activists are against trapping, too) the enviroment would be destructive
for both the animals themselves and the people that must share the same space with them. So it all
comes down to respect for people and to exercise the right of animal consumption responsibly. Animal
rights activists, appeal to an emotional statement that is not based on fact. So before we adhere to
any philosophy and before harrassing people for their choices we need to be informed consumers! |

There is nothing wrong with using fur. I used to trap and still do some but don't have as much time
as i used to. Since I haven't had the time I have noticed quite the increase in the beaver pop.
Which was out of control cutting numerous trees down, damming up creeks causing flooding which would
have to be repaired. It would be a absolute waste not to use the fur the other option is to let
disease take over and let the animal be wasted. I also know a lot of people who subsidise their
income through fur it is a good way of earning a little spending money. I have a four year old son
and maybe Evan this winter i will take him out to start his own trapline. I will never understand
why people have such a problem with fur if you read some of the comments on the other side of this
debate they are actually comparing animals to people as if to say they are equal. They are not equal
in any way I will continue to support the fur industry. |

I raise rabbits. They are New Zealand whites. In one litter there can be 6-10 babies or more or less
but that is the average amount in a litter. I show rabbits and I love them. They are like my pets
but I have come to realize that if I kept evey rabbit ever produced I wouldn't be able to keep all
of them properly. So to keep my herd population manageable we butcher them. I only butcher at the
correct age and make sure that it is painless and that they never see it coming. Without this proper
management skill I would be over run with rabbits. I also will sell them as meat rabbits not a fur
rabbits. I will also sell them as show rabbits. They live well feed and well protected stressless
lives. If I sell them and they get made into a fur coat I have no problem with this. As long as they
are treated in a humane manner. Also anyone saying that animals are innocent and cant fit back have
never meet some of my rabbits. I have scars on my hands because they will bite me. Animals have
natural protection its just that they have been breed and raised in captivity and have no reason to
fear us. The only reason I was bit was because the doe (which is a girl rabbit) was in heat (her
period) and they are very moody then. Also the buck was in the cage next to her and she was ready to
be breed and does will bite when in heat. |

popular fashion back in 30 years. Fashion is the style of human behavior. So anything you like can
become a fashion if you promote it in a positive and attractive way. If we design good garments with
fur then it would be like by many people. |
