For A Senator To Have An Affair While Openly Defending The Sanctity Of Marriage From The "evil" Gay People Is One Of The Biggest Hypocrisies.
John Ensign is a huge defender of marriage and a die hard Christian who takes it upon himself to defend marriage from us evil gays while at the same time having it off with one of his employees (with a woman, he isn't himself gay). Is this not hypocritical?

It's a bit hypocritical. These things aren't quite the same ball game, but close enough. Either way, he's a jackass.

I get so frustrated by people proclaiming to be Christian who judge others instead of focusing on their own lives and being accountable for their own actions and behavior. Beyond that, I would think that adultry is more hurtful than one's sexual orientation. The person who strays not only risks contracting an STD, but they are putting someone who is supposed to be able to trust them at risk of contracting an STD. They are also breaking a trust and causing emotional pain that could effect the other person for years to come. I feel the same about this as I do whenever the topic comes up. People would be far better off if they spent half of the time working on themselves and their relationships as they spend judging others and using religion to support personal agendas. I truly think that most people who say they are only trying so be "good Christians" and that they "hate the sin and not the sinnen" are truly just using those words so they can continue to condemn others and reassure themselves that they are living a better life than those who they believe are sinning worse than they are. I can't imagine that God would create people who are homosexual just to condemn them. It makes no sense to me. I'm a little off topic here I guess, but I find cheating on a spouse to be more of an issue than someone's sexual orientation. To be unfaithful demonstrates a lack of integrity and poor judgement. While I'm sure many politicians have been unfaithful, I wonder if these are really the type of people who should be holding office. Obviously, honesty is not an important value to them.

Happens all the time. Those who screem the loudest against gays are the good Christians at rest stops. This is so common it's ridiculous and has been going on for a very long time.

Ha Ha, I thought he had gay tendencies, just because of his persona, regardless of what he says. I still do.

One of the biggest hypochristians? That would require there be only a few. There are hundreds of repugnant republicans.

What makes me laugh is Sen. REsign belongs to the wife-beating "promise keeper" cult. Those morons are amongst the worst for spewing out garbage about "family values".

I agree it's wrong but I have to say for a politician it's only a moderate sized hypocrisy.

He certainly qualifies as a schmuck. He most certainly hurts those issues he said he stands for, such as family, fidelity and honesty. However, he is not a hypocrite necessarily. Hypocrisy really means to not truly believe what you say you believe. You may truly believe what you say but fail to live up to those principles. He may have simply failed to live by the standards he proclaimed. We all fail and fall short of our desired principles. If he truly does not believe, in fidelity and the sanctity of the family, and yet he espouses those values, then he would be a hypocrite as well as a schmuck. By the way, since we all fall short, it is good reason to really pause before harshly and quickly judging another for his or her short coming.

No, it isn't hypocrisy. It would be if he were having that affair with a man. It certainly hurts his "sanctity of marriage" defense.

Considering though that this man has a definition of marriage that he thinks should be imposed on someone else he is being hypocritical. His definition of marriage is one man, one woman and that adultery, divorce and gay rights are anti family it really doesn't do his stance very well. Also the man is a hypocrite because whenever a member of the democrats have been caught up in a so called scandal he has called for them to resign but now he has been found out he refuses to do so. Hypocrtical? Just slightly.

I don't know. Would a murderer be a hypocrite for denouncing murder? Would you fault that? I agree it does hurt his ability to speak out on the matter though.

Of course a murderer would be a hypocrite for denouncing murder, why wouldn't he be?

I thought it would be if he was gay. But since he isn't, we are just comparing and contrasting two different evils. Not, "Do what I say, not what I do."

Its hyprocritical in the sense that both "evils"are destructive to marriage. He wants to protect marriage by excluding it to the gay population, but yet he still commits an affair or he at least had sex before marriage which is also supposedly detrimental.
