Of course it is.

The really sad part is that all the people "suffering" from it do more to feed it in others.

Where the heck was this medical condition 150 years ago? Better yet, where was it 15 years ago? It's a joke.

If you have a red bubble of pain, and a green bubble of suffering, and you don't know what's causing these bubbles, then I would certainly say that it was all in the mind. Each fibromyalgia sufferer needs an individual approach. The first step should always be to find out what the illness is? Modern medicine can cure a number of illnesses, however, there are a number of illnesses it can't cure, and a physical approach is more applicable. Some illnesses are caused by psycholigical factors such as stress. The way one handles stress is all in the mind. Therefore, the statement 'Fibromyalgia is All in the Mind' could possibly be true.

Actually, fibromyalgia is caused by unresolved traumas that are stored in the body, the way a memory is stored in the brain.
The is not one doctor that has ever cured fibromyalgia, and there never will be. At best a doctor may come up with some chemical that deadens all the nerve until the person has no pain receptors left...not exactly a good way to live.
Joe..try to name me one illness that the doctors have actually cured? Doctors cut out stuff, postpone illnesses or cover the symptoms, they don't cure nothing, because they don't try to find the cause.
There's ways to get rid of fibromyalgia, but not by medicine. Clearing out the stuck energy of past traumas allows the fibromyalgia to go away naturally.
Illness is a way your body tries to tell you something.

Fibromyalgia, is so very real, These last year has been terrible for me. During this whole time, though I haven't been depressed not one time. It's not a mind problem, but a physical one. The pain in your muscles and the nerve pain is terrible, but mine came about with going 48 hr. At a time without any sleep. The pain in my body was so bad that it ran my bloodpressure past the stroking point and my heart rate up to 160. My body just couldn't handle all the burning pain that I was having inside my body. My doctor first thought I was having a heart attack. But it wasn't my heart. It was Fibromyalgia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Fibromyalgia symptoms are caused by a malfunction in all clear fluid in the body.

Serous Fluid (the end product of blood) is produced by the Arterial Capillaries. It is supposed to Feed, Rinse and Lubricate every cell.

If it is too thick, it cannot reach all cells (especially in intricate areas like the brain, the back and extremities.

The entire body will hurt, have little or no strength or energy. Bodily functions will be affected.

The brain will not be able to make clear decisions or understand information correctly.

It also cannot pass into the Lymphatic Capillaries, and on to the Thoracic Duct to the Heart.

Tender Points are located where the Arteries branch from larger to smaller to smaller.

Fibromyalgia has always been around, even in ancient times. It had other names, though and was not understood.

Until 2000, it was not clear what Symptoms were part of Fibromyalgia and which were not.

There are 4 different Routes to Fibromyalgia.
Viral, abuse / stress, trauma, physical damage to liver - most often from rear-end car accidents.

There are 4 different Versions of Fibromyalgia.
Overly Acidic, Overly Alkali, Thyroid / Temperature, and Physical Damage to Liver.

The most common Version (about 90% of those with FMS) is the Overly Acidic Version.

While human Saliva is supposed to be 7.4 pH, those people will have saliva that is a lower number, indicating too much acidity.

Some Diabetic people who have Fibromyalgia are the Overly Alkali Version. Again, a Saliva pH test will reveal this.

One Version is caused by Thyroid/ Temperature problems. It is very easy to test. Humans are supposed to be 98.6 If it is not, a doctor can help balance the Thyroid and that will relieve FMS symptoms.

All Symptoms of the other Versions of Fibromyalgia can be relieved using a combination treatment method of medication with tricks and tips. The method is specific to each Version.

Someone who comes to you as a "friend" who just then spends all his time trying to change you? Is not your friend.
A FRIEND, is someone who knows all about you and loves you accepts you as you are, and loves you all the same: Just as YOU DO also them.
Anything else is just a big fat LIE.

"fibromyalgia" is caused by the City Employees and the State Water Board putting poisonous chemicals into our public water supply: The chloramine and flouride are deadly toxins, and they know this science already.

When private citizens get sick from it? These so called "human beings" verbally-abuse these private citizens so attempting to discredit their allegations: Culpability of the State and County, and City, USA Government's responsibilities for FINANCIAL COMPENSATION.

A psychological-warfare-tactic learned by the USA Government from Stalin and Hitler.
Fire the "fiends", then sue them.
Including for their Libelous-degradations of you.

The modern view is that the mind, brain and body are inextricably linked. You might just as well dismiss brain cancer by saying "it's all in your mind."

The distinction between "psychological" and "physical" disorders is historical and irrelevant. Biological, social, and psychological factors contribute to every medical disorder. Stomach ulcers were considered psychosomatic until they found the culprit bacteria. Yet not everybody who has this bacteria develops ulcers.

I think it's a John Madden thing. He was always insisting that football players need to play through the pain. There is pain you can overcome by attitude, and there is pain that is a signal of your body being crippled. The trick is telling the difference.

I think the DSM-6 maybe? will be the manual of brain disorders. Psych friend used to ask ,"Where is your mental?"
I "know" rationally that when my pain is severe that nothing is injured, or will be injured by using whatever part hurts - still can't run though.
I have RA, too, and some chemo side-effects, so have problems telling which one flares first.

FMS is in the brain - "mind" is just one of the functions of the brain. I'm a 20 years plus sufferer, and I inherited it. Before it had a name, my father referred to it as "the Stephens famous aches and pains".My great-grand-mother, my grandfather and my mother plus at least one cousin all have/had it.

Fibromalgia is a collection of very real physical symptoms, that may or may not be psychosomatic in origin. The US SSD will give full disability to anyone that can prove a diagnosis. Anything beyond that is just speculation at this point.

So I disagree that it is "all" in the mind, but there are certainly some mental, emotional, and even spiritual components to fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is not psychosomatic. It is a muscle pain that is persistent and widespread. Those who suffer from it experience an aching, throbbing, stabbing, or shooting pain and sometimes will ache all over. Just because no one is certain exactly what causes fibromyalgia, doesn’t mean it isn’t a legitimate health complaint. There are a number of theories about what might cause it including difficulty transmitting pain messages to and from the brain resulting in the brain being more sensitive to pain. Doctors also believe that people might have a genetic predisposition to fibromyalgia or that it could be triggered by environmental factors.

Genetic my a@@. The theory you mention about 'something ' blocking the neurotransmitters is exactly right, read my comment on the other side and you'll see, plus at the bottom of the comments you will see a web address that will be helpful, if you or someone you know have this problem......no, it's not my site.

How ignorant.

Fibromyalgia is an organic pain in the muscles caused by organic sources.
Go online and do your research.

 Scorpian...welcome back
The explanation your reading about fibromyalgia is written by the medical society, a society that has never cured a single case of fibromyalgia.
I work with people with fibromyalgia, and the fastest case of eliminating it took me about 20 minutes, others took 4 to 5 sessions. About 2 out of 10 got relief, but still had problems with it.
8 out of 10 I eliminate it.
It is not psychosomatic, it is the way the body stores trauma for that person, and is the bodies way to say....hay wake up we have a problem.

Muscular pain is a symptom of Fibromyalgia.

Sometimes sufferers can't get out of bed, because of pain, and feeling tiered and fatigued.

If the disorder were caused by:.. Let say an allergy, one could not say it was all in the mind.

If you said it started off as a panic attack or fear, then you would need to establish what the fear was and what caused it.
That might be a traffic accident or dog bight, for instance.

A solution might be found in the mind. But you couldn't say it was all in the mind.

Keepmindok, lovely to see you, my friend.

Concerning this debate response you now post about fibromyalgia:

I disagree in the components of fibromyalgia:

Here is what it both is, and isnt:

Fibromyalgia is organic in origin.
It has an organic cure.

Fibromyalgia is unlike having a pain in your shoulder from being hit by someone you love there:

Domestic Violence is BOTH 1.physical,
and 2.emotional.

One has two levels of healing to address in D.V.
Fibromyalgia? One only.

A physical pain only is healed only by similar means as the existing evidence of the source of pain.

Unless the source of pain comes from two different venues at one and the same time, as example of D.V.

If you stub your toe on the couch as you walk by? physical only.
if someone you loves hits your toe with a blunt-instrument? Again, two levels of treatment.

Fibromyalgia is not on the psychosomatic food-chain.

I don't think fibromyalgia is psychosomatic.

By definition, psychosomatic illness is caused by fear or anxiety rather than a physical problem. However, Fibromyalgia is a disorder that is mainly caused by muscular pain.

The presence of certain tender points in all people who have fibromyalgia have been identified by physician, which are the intense pain in certain parts of the body. These need to be cured by modern medicine.

Therefore, the statement 'Fibromyalgia Is All In The Mind' is very wrong.
