Yea. Kinda contradictory don't you think. Doctors say eat healthily and yet there's a Macdonalds
slap bang in the middle of a hospital |

Just like taffy4jc said : Hospitals are supposed to be about health, and McDonald's and most other
fast food restaurants are not healthy.
Hospitals should sell only the best available food possible. |

If it was ones own choice than perhaps we should tell McD's that they have no need for a marketing
budget, funny clowns, and little toys to sell to the kids...
There is more to health than making money and to promote such unhealthy eating in a place like a
hospital is outrageous...
Sure we're all going to die one day, that does not mean you bring in one of the main causes of
obesity and death in to the actual hospital that is meant to care.. |

Since when do hospitals (and doctors) practice what they preach about maintaining health? Doctors
are known alcoholics and smokers.
I about croaked when I saw my first hospital Macdonald’s. Did the corporation PAY to promote its
unhealthy products in such a venue? Doctors are known for taking bribes from pharmaceutical
companies to push pills, so why not from fast-food joints to push unhealthy diets?
To be even more cynical, don’t fast-food franchises help keep doctors supplied with patients?
Macdonald’s and its ilk has taken over the world. It is criminal that people do not question their
insidious ad campaigns.
Another place from which fast food should be banned is schools. The seduction of youth by them is
blatant, but parents all fall for it. A friend had to go miles out of her way because her toddler
would have a screaming fit if they passed a Macdonald’s and didn’t stop. |

Definitely fast food restaurants like McDonald’s should not be allowed to open in hospitals and in
any area which are close to medical units. Generally if there is a fast food restaurant in any
hospital then it may attract patients to go there and have fast foods which may not be good for
them. Often a patient is prescribed to not have fast foods even if he or she is not suffering from
diet problems but intake of fast food in any other specific ailment can cause problem to the
patient. Thus a fast food restaurant in the lobby of the hospital may not be good for any patient.
At the same time if a doctor is seen to have fast foods himself and prescribing a patient to not
have fast food then it creates a bad impact in the mind of the patient. |

Absolutely, it's kind of like a doctor telling you that your liver will fail if you drink any more
alcohol, as he takes a sip of his Vodka and Coke!
I've never heard of them in hospitals where I come from, in the UK. But it certainly sounds
extremely contradictory and nonsensical on the part of the hospitals. I would love to have been at
those hospitals' board meeting when they decided to pass the notion of allowing McDonald's to set up
there. Of course, it's all about the money - quite sad really! |

Very true |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|

If someone is in the hospital for kidney stones, why would you give them fatty McDonald's (they
probably ate to much of it and that's why they are in the hospital!) |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
This makes sense. A hospital, after all, is not supposed to promote bad health. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
It is sad that hospitals accommodate fast food restaraunts, maybe they want their patients to stay
longer or the family of patients can become their customers as well? |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Yes, I agree. Whilst I do not think fast food restaurants should be banned altogether, I do think
that they shouldn't be in hospitals.
Hospitals are all about health, so it wouldn't make sense to have a fast food restaurant in the
area. Since people at the hospital may be asked to eat healthily, there should be a snack bar which
sells a variety of healthy snacks. |

Yeah man, that is messed up. Hospitals are supposed to be about health, and McDonald's and most
other fast food restaurants are not healthy. Man that's sad about having that kind of food in
hospitals |
| |
|
| |
|
|

Have you every eaten at a hospital cafeteria? I have, and most of the time, they are terrible. You
really think hospital cafeterias are healthier than McDonald's? It is all relative to the
individuals food choice. You can choose healthier options even at McDonald's. Hospitals are
already depressing places, give people food choices that they may actually want. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
It is one's own choice and decision to come to the conclusion of what they will eat. If they want to
eat it, let them eat it. If they don't, then they don't. You don't need to worry, because, all in
all, it is their decision. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
We live in a free market economy, if you do not want McDonald's in hospitals then boycott them out
of existence or stand outside with a placard and object to the location of that particular business. |
| |
|

This is retarded, obviously the person responsible for this debate is ignorant to the fact that WE
WILL ALL DIE ONE DAY!!! And although eating TOO MUCH fast food could increase the risk of dying
early its not bad for a person like me to eat fast food once or twice a month. Fast food is
convenience into my life and i know how to exercise at least once a week. Don't punish me for
overweight slobs who gorge on fast food as their only means of food and do not know what a gym is. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Who is to say how healthy fast food restaurants are? Has it been definitively proved by the
standards of science that they are not healthy? Some fast food restaurants, like Subway for example,
use only fresh ingredients in their food and are probably quite healthy. So if you decide that some
fast food restaurants are ok but not others, are you going to set up a panel to adjudicate on how
healthy each one is whenever they apply to set up in a hospital?
It's absurd to blame fast food restaurants for the obesity problems in the world. How many meals per
week does anyone eat in a fast food restaurant? |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Restaurants like McDonald's pay plenty to be in a hospital and they reduce the cost of operating a
cafeteria. The hospital benefits financially which helps to keep the costs down across the
board.
Besides, it isn't like anyone is forcing you to eat there. |
