Your plan smacks very much of 18th Century protectionist, mercantilist policy; obviously those who
vote with this motion have missed the development of Smith with his wealth of nations, and then
Ricardo's subsequent development of the concept of relative advantage. The West can most easily
provide service industries as part of a knowledge economy, thus it should do that. The Poorer world
can most effectively farm and produce crops, therefore it should do that. Thereby we have
globalisation and maximum deployment of resources. |
