Farm Land Needs To Be Protected
I think we need to start protecting farmland against things like urban development it is a resource we cannot live without we protect wet lands why not Ag land

And the forests in Brazil that are destroyed for farmland.
Brazil is just a big example.

Good idea, but you're too late. By about a thousand years.

Guess what sort of land most major cities are built on? Villages first arise because people built where farming land was best, and cities form around villages.

That's probably true, never thought about that before. But I still we need to protect what we have.

There is a real problem with over development. You don't have to go back to far to realize we need every resource we can musted in difficult times.
And there is also the problem with flooding.

Only if we run out of usable farmland, which probably wont happen soon considering how much unused land there is.

Its not so much how much land but where it is. Look at some of the states in the corn belt. Sure there is a lot of land in say North Dakota but things like corn and beans don't do near as well there, or vegtables either.

Your plan smacks very much of 18th Century protectionist, mercantilist policy; obviously those who vote with this motion have missed the development of Smith with his wealth of nations, and then Ricardo's subsequent development of the concept of relative advantage. The West can most easily provide service industries as part of a knowledge economy, thus it should do that. The Poorer world can most effectively farm and produce crops, therefore it should do that. Thereby we have globalisation and maximum deployment of resources.

A lot of states number one money maker is still farming. The poorer world could not keep up with demand they don't have access to modern machinery or hybreds or technoligy. I read a artical that said one million acers of farm land per year is consumed by urban sprawl plus they say ag. will have to double by 2020 just to meet demand. I just think if we protect other resources why not farm land.
