Most of the "slutty costumes" are more concealing than the clothes they're wearing anyways. |

Nor should doll companies *cough*Bratz*cough* market dolls that look like cheap whores to girls.
Halloween is not an excuse to go around dressing like sluts. |

I think that if they're going to make those types of costumes, there should be an age requirement so
that not just anyone can buy them. |

Whatever factories make is up to the makers. Think about risque cakes- people make them, people buy
them, people use them. If you want to buy one, that's wholly up to you. Addressing the matter, it's
not the girl's decision that matters. The parents ultimately buy costumes for their kids and it's
the parents who should know when to say no. For all you know, those costumes might just be specially
made for people with growth disorders. =D |

I'm not advocating a specific age for a girl to begin exploring their sexuality but that is and
should be something that the girl and her guardians decide. What a costume company decides to make
and sell is up to them, nobody has to wear anything they don't wish to. |

It violates freedom of choice. In your description you are refering to kids but the parents should
"parent up" and tell their kid NO dont wear the sluttish costumes. But if a person is 18 and older
then they can look sluttish all they want...I wont mind |

Dont need to worry about the factories buddy. Its whats being distributed in the papers and shown on
the screen. |

It depends on how young and how slutty. An 8 year old as a Playboy bunny is too much, but an 8 year
old as Wonder Woman is probably fine. Plus the topic doesn't really define the age ranges in
discussion and frankly those same factories make costumes for teens and adults too. |

If the debate included "for children", I would agree with that. There are, however, Halloween
parties that are for adults only and there is no reason that someone who is older than "Trick or
Treat" age can't enjoy a more revealing costume if they so choose. Some people have to wear
conservative clothes every day to work and might want to pick something more risque for a party or
to go out with friends on Halloween. Plenty of people are out there half dressed when they go out
anyway...might as well let them or others who want an excuse to wear something that they wouldn't
normally feel comfortable wearing, have a choice in what they wear for Halloween or any occasion
that allows for that kind of style of clothes.
I do think kids should look like kids. I can never understand parents who let their kids dress like
adults and it seems that even the tiny kids can be dressed to look like a mini young adult who is
going out to hit on guys. I almost died when I was shopping for my then 3 year old daughter and
found pretend leather mini skirts in the toddler section and shoes that reminded me of a prostitute.
I always wanted them to retain their innocence and the look of innocence for as long as possible.
They grow up far too fast as it is. |
