The physical act of "making love" or "having sex" is the most intimate thing that two people can do. If you share such intimacies with other people outside of your marriage, then there wouldn't be anything special about being intimate with your spouse. If there's nothing special that you share exclusively with your spouse, then what's the point of being married?

Aside from my own personal beliefs, every couple I've seen go down that route ultimately degenerate into Jerry Springer nonsense. The basic flaw lies in that a marriage is based on mutual consideration and commitment whereas what you are talking about is a self centered lifestyle and failure to commit. These things are mutually exclusive.

WHAT!? I can't quite belive that! There may be no commitment in the affair but there is in the marriage! Sorry if your wife has found out about your affair but have you jnot learnt the ten commandments? Commandment no.1 Thou shall not commit adultery! You silly sausage!

Ugh, it happened to me and i cared cause i knew he loved her and not me and it was really hard to lose the one you love and the love was all a lie and that they were with someone else.

Not at all except if the two partners are fully aware and fully consenting on allowing extra-marital affairs. In 97% of the cases I heard about, it led to a broken relationship in less than a month.

If you have a close relationship with someone and it is sexual, then there already is a commitment, even if you don't acknowledge it. Having an "affair" will end up hurting you or hurting the other and most definitely hurting the relationship by "extra-marital" sex.
