I consider the research to be completely acceptable and if it saves lives then fine. These cells are
very rare and would otherwise be destroyed and go to waste and what a waste it would be. Those cells
could cure some of the worst diseases and we should explore the option. |

Duh, stem cell research is ethical, even if it's from an embryo. To start, a lot of embryos that
they use for stem cell research are from abortion clinics, so they're going to die anyway. Also,
they have no nervous system to feel pain or understand their situation. For those who say that
you're killing somebody and ruining a potention life, you are implying two things: 1) that they have
a soul, and I believe that you don't get a soul until you are born. What would a ball of cells do
with a soul? And 2) that the potential life has a destiny that they can fulfill, which is outrageous
because nobody has a destiny. The choices you make everyday affect your future, not some higher
deity deciding your fate. That's just communist and taking away your free will, which is the second
most important thing God ever gave to us. There are only two people ever created that most likely
had a destiny: Jesus and the devil. |

Hello, I have never understood why people believe that medical research is unethical. It isn't like
we are selling our babies, or our slaves babies. I think people are too closed minded on this
because the abortion issue has been linked to it. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Of course it is. If they were able to save someone you knew with stem cell research, would you deny
them treatment |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Yes absolutely. You're using rare and precious cells which otherwise would simply be destroyed and
using them to come up with treatments which might truly change the scope of abilities of medicine to
treat our diseases. An easy choice to me. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Is this even a question?
Of course its ethical,
they have no self awareness, a bunch of cells,
no nerves, so no pain, or any other feeling,
abortions are legal, so what is the difference?
In the eyes of the bible its murder, but in any educated open minded person, it is a necessity, if
we are to ever find a cure for diseases, such as motor neurone disease, and cancer. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Yes we could one day cure the worst diseases. Using embryos does not constitute murder, as it is
only a bunch of cells and it is does not yet have a pulse or vital organs. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
The embryos, which are often obtained from donors as unwanted IVF embryos, would be destroyed anyway
so why not use them for a good cause? |
| |

I also agree with homies first comment yah! If it will help us why not and we aren't killing the
fetus we are just using the stem cells. |

I strongly agree, with there being increasing evidence that embryonic stem cells have the potential
to be transformed into various cell types - heart cells, liver cells, nerve cells, to name just a a
few - potentially being able to save the lives of millions of sufferers of various different
diseases. The possibilities really are extensive.
Indeed, this is the reason why so much research is currently going into embryonic stem cells, and
why we're hearing of the breakthroughs fairly frequently, as they happen around the world.
Hopefully, further research will lead to some sort of widescale implementation in the future, so
that the full potential of these remarkable cells can be seen, saving the lives of potentially
millions all over the world... |
