The Beetles were downright boring, so Elvis would have had to be better, besides the fact is he WAS
better.
Nothing not to like about Elvis' song, "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"
and who could forget, "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" ? Arguably his best hit.
But it was Elvis' hymn collection of songs which were his stand alone performances. Gospel music was
where his heart really was at, not the secular songs. Elvis put everything he had into his gospel
music hymn performances. |

I like them both but i like elvis better |

Obviously, Elvis is bigger than the Beatles. Beatles had lots of controversies in their music
career. Elvis had no scandal in his career; his army stint and British Invasion did not affect
anything. He made come back specials. LOL |

Elvis has inspired influenced most, Beatles are nothing in comparison of influences with Elvis, They
themselves have got inspired from Elvis .
Chuck berry wasn't before elvis, He had started his career in 21st may 1955, Elvis had invented rock
n roll, here are rock n roll songs which are before Chuck berry:-
That's All Right (released on 19th july 1954)
Blue Moon of Kentucky (released on 19th july 1954 )
Good Rockin' Tonight(released on 9/25/54)
I Don't Care If the Sun Don't Shine (released on 9/25/54)
Milk Cow Blues Boogie (released on 12/28/54)
You're a Heartbreaker (released on 12/28/54)
Baby Let's Play House (released on 4/10/55)
I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone (released on 4/10/55)
Same with little richard, because little richard's first rock n roll song "Tutti frutti" was
released in November 1955, so Still he is also after Elvis.
He never stole any songs too, He covered, so did beatles, Also Elvis had made it with his own style. |

Of course, Elvis is greater than the Beatles and everyone has to face the fact and respect it. |

Elvis was greater. In many ways. Beatles were a greater boy band. They weren't about the majority.
The beatles biggest fans were people wowwed at being able to watch live TV. Elvis dressed like a
tart and suffered for it. |

I agree. I only like one Beatles song: "Yesterday". But i like a lot of Elvis Presley's Songs:
"Surrender", "Jail House Rock", "Amazing Grace"...etc. I think it is because I never really listened
to the Beatles. |

He was awesome and he was not brinety spears he was better than her. He is a hero!!! |

I agree. I don't particularly like the Beatles, but I respect their work. Just, there music doesn't
evoke anything in me. Now Elvis can make me smile and cry in the space of 6 minutes. Legend. |

The Beatles influenced music more. Anytime I hear a Beatles song I know it was them who wrote it; I
can't tell a whole lot of Elvis' songs. I agree that a lot of the Beatles' songs are kind of
pointless, but they were more influential on the whole. |

Apples and oranges people. It's Elvis and Carl Parkins, or Beatles and Rolling Stones. Get your geek
music arguments right. |

Elvis was king but as of Feb 9th 1964 the Beatles took over and have never let go. Most #1 songs,
most #1 albums, voted #1 all time by their peers in Rolling Stone, voted #1 all time by VH1, named
icons of the 20th century by Variety. Members Rock 'n Roll hall of fame, Song writers hall of fame,
Vocal group hall of fame and Hit Parade hall of fame. Along with Elvis they have sold over 1
billion units who has more? I think it's the Beatles but truth is no one knows. RIAA artists of the
20th century. |

OK while the Beatles may not be the best sounding band listen to their lyrics those are amazing they
are so awesome |
| |
|

|

Well i think Elvis had a greater influence for people but i think the Beatles music was better. I
would rather listen to the Beatles anyday than listen to Elvis... I don't really like his music.
Go Beatles!!! |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
You really can't even compare the two. The Beatles produced original songs and played their own
instruments. Elvis was just a performer singing other people's songs, not a musician. It's not
contest that the Beatles are better on so many levels. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |

The beatles were more of an impact to the world as well as being more original. Presley was only a
temporary sensation, the beatles on the other hand started the cultural revolution during the 60's
among many, and one member, lennon(r.i.p.),promoted peace, rather than what Presley did which was
remake many Christian/gospel songs. Plus the beatles had to work as a team, and I admire that. |
| |
|
| |
|

They were in different genres, almost. The Beatles were more rocky, and had more talent, in my
opinion. |

It is a hard one |

Elvis Presley was the Britney Spears of the 1950s. Chuck Berry was and is a more relevant
comparison to the Beatles. He wrote classic songs, was the first guitar hero, had charisma and a
great shtick.
Presley had a little talent and knew how to incorporate new ideas into older songs (e.g. Blue Moon
Of Kentucky), and may have been worth listening to between 1955 and 1957. But once Presley left
Sun Records - because Sam Phillips needed the cash - Presley became product, never making anything
worth listening to ever again. Today, people *still* are influenced by Chuck Berry and play his
songs.
Or do you consider "Having Fun On Stage With Elvis" to be a great record? Forty minutes of drunken
and drug-induced stupor isn't funny, despite what Tom Parker thought. |

I'm pretty sure the beatles are the best..i've found that there are more bands(that i know) that
have been inspired by the beatles than presley..and in general i honestly don't know anyone that got
inspired by elvis at all :S |

Presley and the Beatles are similar in that they created revolutions in popular music.
Presley is best known for bringing “colored music” into the mainstream, white culture. He was
not the first to do this -- merely the most attractive package that delivered it. We tend to forget
that Presley was a sex symbol extraordinaire.
I think the Beatles’ revolution was more profound. They knocked U.S. Pop music out of its 1950s
cotton-candy complacency with increasingly sophisticated music.
Does anyone remember “The Ed Sullivan show”? In the late â€50s, its producers shot Elvis only
from the waist up, so as to not corrupt youth with the sight of his gyrating pelvis. I remember
seeing the Beatles on the show, with screaming girls in the audience, but they were considered
harmless.
[An aside: The Stones were forced to change “Let’s Spend the Night Together” to “-- Day”
on “Ed Sullivan.”] |

No Way! The beatles are awesome! Plus, they sing better and I like their songs better! Anyway, they

Not in any way. He may have been immensely popular but The Beatles just proved to have a stronger

Ummmm, no! Elvis did nothing but sing other peoples songs. You have to admire those who though they
can't read music can write it and write original songs and music that actually say something!! |

|

|
| |
|
|
Well...seeing as how they are 2 diffrent types of musicians i dont see how someone could group them
together...Elvis has amazing performances but the Beatle's songs gave people inspiration and
meaning...not saying Elvis did not touch peoples lives its just he did it in a diffrent way |

According to my point of view and knowledge Elvis Presley should be counted as a very good
performer. He did not produce the world the revolution what the boys of Beatles did. Elvis made the
white America to listen to the songs of the black America. His achievement should be considered
within this limit. He was not at all a very competent guitarist or the lyricist of his songs. On the
other hand the Beatles made the world crazy with their compositions. They made the revolution with
the different genres of music. Starting from rock n’ roll, blues, hip-hop- Beatles was able to
reach to the hearts of millions of music lovers of the world in no time. The members of Beatles were
much more competent and confident to what they produce to the world. They leave so many positive
influences on millions of youth. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
The Beatles sold more albums, made more music, and are larger icons than Elvis. In my opinion Elvis
did help push rock forward but his music formula is to simple and repetitive compared to the Beatles
who expanded from pop to early hard rock, blues, and are even cited for early metal with "Helter
Skelter" |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|

Elvis added nothing to music. He was just a wannabe who ripped off the black man's sound. What was
it Colonel Parker had said before Elvis appeared on the scene? "Give me a white boy who sounds like
a black boy and I'll make him a star." Elvis was just a conduit for the sound of Black America. He
made it acceptable for white people to listen to it.
Elvis didn't write his own songs. He was a barely competent guitar player. The truth is Elvis made
more of a contribution to karate than he did to music. He was a good showman but nothing more. The
Beatles were genuine artists and on a different plane from the bespangled Elvises of this world. The
hip hop group Public Enemy managed to sum Elvis up succinctly :
"Elvis was a hero to most,
But he never meant s*** to me.
Straight up racist that sucker
Was simple and plain." |

Elvis Presley had no positive influence on me at all as a young person. In fact I didn't like his
image or his music. I was a Beatles fan.
If I think back to my youth in the 1960's, I can remember nearly all the Beatles songs but none by
Elvis.
To us the Beatles were the boys who opened up a host of new avenues in music, dress and ideas. They
were followed by Led Zeppelin , Cream and a host of amazing bands who still have a mega fan base
even with people in their dotage like me!
Yes of course Elvis made a huge impression and still has great influence but don't under estimate
the influence the Beatles had.
Looking back I think they helped liberate young men especially from the stereotypical image and
expectations of them.
Men grew their hair and stepped out of the role expected of them and women also found a new
role.
It was good and fun and we still remember a lot of those times as if they were 'Yesterday'. |
