Easter Is Wrong
The word Easter comes from a pagan goddess called Ishtar or Eostre (there are variations of her name) and the bunnies and eggs have to do with fertility. Is it coincidence Easter is in Spring?

We must keep Easter and keep it on this day. It is meaningful that Easter occurs on this specific day. This day belonged to God long before it was conscripted by pagans and made into one of their holidays. God simply took it back and made it something holy. The fact that we celebrate Jesus' triumphing over the devil on this day mirrors His triumphing over the devil, over paganism. God would have been a total wimp if he was too "upset" to reclaim this stolen day and overshadow it with a His own life-giving Christian holiday. God did the same thing for Christmas, which had been used previously as a pagan winter celebration. The fact that these were previously pagan holidays shows you we have a strong and victorious God whose will supplanted these pagan holidays days with HIS days.

Easter in our US society is depicted incorrectly, but we are called the melting pot of the world for that reason. However the Christians felt the need to survive in the early centuries of their religion. The missionaries came up with the idea that if they didn't celebrate it was obvious that they didn't fit in they just chose a different reason to celebrate at the same time. Kept them alive then it changed. Then Constantine, in 325a A.D., decide at the end of his life to become a Christian and declared what we now call the Easter Rule. That is why it moves around with the full moon cycles another way to change the people. Eventually the thought of Pagan Easter died out and Christian Easter took over but you can never change all the people's traditions or minds.

I agree with your explanation of where the term Easter comes from, because it is true; one need only a brief review of ancient germanic cultures to figure that out. If you go back further, you can venture into the Indo-European traditions as well.

On the other hand, I am not so sure I agree with your post of "Easter is Wrong". How is it wrong? The name? The practice? What?

Easter isn't wrong. Its a religious holiday celebrating when Jesus rose from the dead. So if you are saying the holiday is wrong....then you are saying the celebration of the resurection is wrong.

Easter is about the ressurection of Christ (which is the cause for the eggs), it IS just a coincidence, and who said that's where the name came from? It's about Christ's eternal life, and that's not wrong at all.

Easter is in the Spring because Christ was crucified and resurrected in the Spring. And Easter is a celebration of the Resurrection, which allows us to live again, which is where the celebration of new life comes from which is why baby chicks and blossoming flowers and such are symbols of Easter.

Every religion has elements of truth in them , that's why they collide so much EG: Christmas Yule Ramadan Honaka(i know that's not the right spelling but i don't know it so...) Easter Beltane etr etr... There go every religious holiday is right. And so is every religion, to an extent.

I think the religious holidays are a brilliant idea by early Christians. If you can't convert the pagans to Christianity, then just take over their holy days. I don't see anything wrong with this practice - except for the fact that it ends up promoting a fictional god character, but what a brilliant strategy!

Does that mean Easter is wrong? I think not. You see to forget that a lot of cultures around the world are Christian, thankfully. Which means, that other beliefs might be dragged in. But, Easter is the celebration of Christ, therefore it is not wrong.
