I would definitely agree that dogs are better than cats. Cats are disloyal when compared to dogs in
my opinion. That and I can play with the dog without getting bit or scratched up, as opposed to
playing with a cat who has not been de-clawed.
I wanted most of my life to have a cat, but I am actually considering getting a dog instead--a
chihuahua. The reason for my change is that my boss's cat and another lady's cat get mad for
reasons they cannot figure out and tear up things that are special to them and do number 2 on their
clothes. I don't think dogs are as introspective or as emotionally "thin-skinned" as cats are.
Dogs just seem happier, too.
Some one's been watching Lassie reruns...
I agree that dogs are more useful and smart, but as a pet, they're the same. At least cats don't
bark during the night, pee the carpet, and get "very" close to your leg.
Neither is better, they're either good or bad based on the individual merits of each pet. For
example your dog could be brilliant or well behaved like lassy OR you could end up with one that
howls all night and mauls visitors. And your cat could be classy graceful and dignified OR it can
act almost feral and even scratch and bite the hand that feeds it.
Some will say training helps and that can be true, and on the surface that would appear to favor
dogs, but sometimes even the best of dogs do the unexpected. Yes there are well trained pitbulls
which inexplicably go cujo.
The only real tie breaker to me is you can coexist with a cat that doesn't like you because most
likely it will keep it's distance and be quiet. If a dog doesn't like you however then you've got a
loud barking growling menace acting almost rabid. Housecats gone bad are just annoying, dogs gone
bad are outright dangerous. There's a reason kids are almost never afraid of cats but quite
regularly learn to be weary of certain dogs.
I am not sure, but cats are cleaner. I am neither for or against but If you think about it cats
don't smell when they are wet (which is hardly ever) and don't want taking on walks.
Cats are cleaner? I'm not entirely sure about that. My fiance's friend has three cats and those litter boxes smell horrible in the house. At least my pup goes outside to do his business...
Dogs are too much hard work and especially if you're old and they cant take the dog out for a walk
and look after it but cats just look after themselves.
