A Debate Is Supposed To Be Presenting Facts In A Persuasive Manner
Does anyone know what a debate is? I think too many of us simply make things up or argue with no valid point to our argument. Isn't debate supposed to be about presenting FACTS in a persuasive manner so that you can get others to share your view?

Obviously. It is also important to actually make it a debate and not a general statement like 'Ilike cheese!' like one person did.

Yes.
Not just saying "Oranges are better than Apples!" that's stupid and a waste of the website and users time. Either do a intreging subject or you can look like a retard. You Choose.

True, but on this website there are constraints on how many words can be used so it's hard to fit in multiple arguments with evidence to back them up. That's fine though, it is what it is - a sound-off opinion site.

People certainly could craft their opening arguments a little better.

And yeah some of the debate topics are frivolous but having fun with the site isn't a bad thing.

I'll vote for that: A debate is a discussion in which opposing arguments are put forward.

If it is a fact, you don't need to persuade. You just need to present them properly....persuasion is not needed, or how you are presenting them is questionable.

Doesn't necessarily need to be facts in my opinion, peoples perspective on things and their viewpoint can be more interesting.

I don't think opinions are a bad thing either but they should be based on fact. My point was acually that by definition a debate is an exchange of facts.
