Drugs are bad. They'll ruin your health, and your life.

It's definitely a touchy subject.

Pharmaceutical companies are trying to create a nation of addicts and pay doctors to proscribe addictive medications for non-existent conditions. The money made by legal pharmaceuticals alone exceeds the total spent on heroin, cocaine, marijuana and all other banned drugs combined, and that's without considering the profits of the two most commonly used drugs, alcohol and nicotine.

The only reason certain drugs are kept illegal is because they are not profitable to corporations. Marijuana will be legalized when agribusiness controls it, not when marijuana is useful for controlling pain and disease.

Yes I'm for it.
Drugs definitely don't help you any better. So what's the point of legalizing them? It only makes you worse. Compare someone with a normal diet, and who does not abuse a substance to someone who is dependent on drugs.
Which one is better off?
This country probably shouldn't have legalized junk food, because that is REALLY bad for you too.

The idea that drugs damage people in all sorts of ways is not the issue. They are banned now and people are have serious problems with them. The question really is would legalising them result in less problems. Not whether taking drugs is good or bad for you.

It's immoral to persuade people to take them. It's up to a person if they want to take drugs.

Shouldn't it then also be immoral to persuade people not to? Would the moral action not be to ensure the individual has a sufficient and balanced knowledge of the effects of the drug, and then allow them to make a decision?

It all depends on the type of drug(s) to be legalized.

It is immoral to refrain from providing people will sufficient and unbiased knowledge of drugs. It is immoral to use biased and incorrect propaganda against drugs. It is immoral to prevent adults from making an informed decision for themselves.

It is not immoral to legalise drugs.

Drugs are bad for you and they shouldn't be legalized, but I don't see how they are "immoral."

I am in favor of the legalization of drugs because i believe in the ability of the individual to make his or her own choices. I say that, but am not thrilled with some of the possible consequences as have taken place in Amsterdam as a result of their policy. I am not so sure that the overall effect has been positive in that country.
I will tell you that i have been recovering from some surgery (hence my availability on this site) and it has been particularly painful surgery. For me to get some fairly mild pain killers, i have to go hat in hand to my doctor and ask for them. I am an adult and i can make my own decisions about the medication.

I agree with most everything Balders (don't get too used to it) has pointed out, but still worry about the ultimate results.

I am not sure how it could be considered immoral.

I think that legalising drugs needs to be given proper consideration. Drugs are bad for your health, but the reason to legalise them is not to encourage their use. It would mean that they could be taxed, monitored, taken out of the hands of the criminals, they would be cleaner (not cut with Ajax and rat poisen). It would mean less decent people would be criminalised if they used them casually, the dangers and benefits would be out in the open. Police resources would no longer be used up chasing drug dealers and users and the money could be spent on proper rehab.

How is that immoral?

the word immoral means morally wrong , so the question is basically saying '' do you think it is wrong to legalise drugs?'' do you know what i mean , you do have some good points thanks . wbs
