It Is A Scary Thought That People Are Going To Hell Just Because They Don't Believe In God's Salvation
I am extremely burdened on this subject and I want to know how others feel about this scary thought!!!

It's something that your all merciful and caring God can provide. Suffering because he wants us to believe in something so improbable.

Scares me. I think Heaven should just be the default setting for everyone, with hell being for like Hitler. Or if you were kinda bad, you do some time in hell--like a year or so--and then go to heaven.

Scares me. Especially for my loved ones that are not saved. Another scary thought is that I did not do all I could to help them before its too late.

All you have to do is believe in his son and him. Whats so difficult?
Or are you just afraid of losing your argument?

Yeah it is scary. But I believe it is true. God mercifully gave you a choice, so take the right one. Don't waste God's gift to you.
It says in His Word "believe that Jesus died for our sins, got buried, and rose again three days later, and you shall be saved" :)

Yeah it's a shame of that because Satan has some folks minds warped into thinking all kinds of wild stuff so that he can have people suffering with him of those who are not believers.

I think its quite insulting to be of the religion condemning people to hell and then to slight our afterlife as "a scary thought"... But you are right it is scary... However that fear is lifelong and something you come to grips with over time and through different... Now detracting momentarily, i don't think there is any version of eternity that is feasible that isn't scary... You telling me that my afterlife is hell isn't exactly scarier than any other version what i feel is truly scary is the moment that is after the moment you stop thinking about what your thinking about... That moment in life we all go through and we tell ourselves 'its ok its ok its ok' maybe you say eternity is just god;s light, or the devil's fire so you hope you will be in the light because those two ideas seem like logical opposition... However, how is something just good forever or just bad forever... Like life i feel the afterlife will fluctuate... You can disagree but that doesn't mean that you know... It just means your happy which, all cynicism aside, is awesome... I just grow skeptical of your representatives who have potentially thought it out further than you have and have further reaching goals and expectations than chilling with god and his flashlight forever and ever and ever and ever an,,,,,ver and ever and....r and ever and ya know... Ever

It’s scary, yeah. But I don't think your getting it all. Hell is not only a fiery torture chamber, but worse its eternal separation from God. All those who strived to separate themselves from God, get what they always wanted. Where as Heaven is being with God, allowing yourself to praise Him every moment. That's what this really is. It’s all about where you want to be...With God or without God. I expect to get some sort of comment about how daft I sound, but that’s ok. I had friend die and I most likely tell you where he is right now and for the rest of eternity. I could have tried to do something about it, but I was too scared of what he would say or do. So I sat by and watched until it was too late. I will never again take the sidelines, no matter what others say. It’s that important. One thing you will never be able to do in Heaven is witness. There will be no one there to witness to. I'm not giving up the chances God has given me, the people He made are too precious.

That is so true, thank you i should have addressed the separation from God once you are in hell, thanks for mentioning that for me, and we all lean back and watch as our friends and family members as they walk on the broad road to destruction and we are given opportunities from God and we don't take them, and i liked the book called "one thing you can't do in Heaven" by Mark CaHill. it's true, there is no one to witness to in Heaven!!! and just knowing that makes me want to go out and pray that God gives me many opportunities!

One trick that some pedophiles use to get kids to be cooperative is to buy two pets and let the kid become emotionally attached.

Then the pedophile kills one pet in front of the kid and says, "Do what I want or I'll kill the other one." The innocent child, wanting to protect the pet, capitulates to the pervert's sexual depravity.

That's the same thing that the godbots do: Instill sickening fear into children to ensure they remain obedient to the religion and never leave, even after they become adults.

Edit:

God I love how people talk about God giving people salvation, ONLY if they completely believe that they are the worst things ever to be created and that he is here to cure them of their self inflicted disease…
Please, just because you were probably raised with a silver spoon up your butts your whole life, doesn’t mean you understand how the world works or how God works. A person’s faith comes into jeopardy when they are met with the hell that this world dishes out, and a lot of people grow up in a society or a situation where they cannot find Gods love. The problem with the majority of Christians today is that they are all filthy rich, white, or they have been brought up in a family that has been there for them.

Try growing up as an orphan in the middle of a crack house.
Try growing up as a person who never found love.
Try living on the street as a child or even in a orphanage or in a foster home.
Become addicted to drugs as a child or become mentally unstable. Then tell me where is this God everyone keeps talking about…
Where is this God everyone talks about as they sip 5 dollar coffees in their heated homes while watching high def TV growing fatter and fatter …
Try growing in your teen years and one day find out that you can’t find a single attraction to the opposite sex… Tell your family you are gay and then get kicked out of your home, you go to your church to find out they don’t love you anymore.
Try growing up with the world’s hate unleashed on you…

Basically people grow up without even knowing about the bible, or grow up without ever understanding God’s love. So what about those people who grow up without understanding God? It isn’t their fault they were dealt harsh lives, and in response may have lost faith. . .

People that believe one is going to hell because their faith is in jeopardy are not only completely ignorant to how the world works but are also incapable of even understanding a different life than that of their own. Those people disgust me.

(PS: I am one that does believe in God, but when people act like God gives everyone the same life and chances they are just plain ignorant and disserve to get this completely emotional response that I just vented >.>)

and i agree with you somewhat because there are many layed back Christians out there and as chrisitans, we have a job to do, and that is to go out and reach those people who would not get a chance to hear that gospel!!!! but not all Christians are like that though, but part of being a christian includes having a burden for those lost souls, just as Christ did when he died on the cross!!!!

ALL people don't know what happens after death. But I suspect it's just like before birth.

You say you are extremely burdened by this. Don't you see that that is a false burden placed upon you by religion?

So basically here's what it is:

Here's a man.
He's a very kind man.
Everyday when he gets home from working at the nursing home, he donates half his money to charity.
He gives all the money in his pocket to every homeless person he sees.
He goes to donate blood and donates too much and passes out and dies.

He goes to hell because he can't blindly believe in God.
How could God do such a thing to such a kind man just because he doesn't believe in him?

Well, as long as you follow your faith blindly, you have nothing to worry about. Ask yourself this. If your so scared of being burned eternally in hell and doomed to suffer forever, ask God to un-make hell for you. Simple. Or not, because Hell is not a place where the nonbelievers get punished (First circle of Hell: Limbo reserved for the faithless and the ones who believed in other Gods. Allegedly). Its a fabrication designed to make little Christians be good. Like the Boogeyman, but more graphically scary.

People aren't going to hell. Hell doesn't exist same with heaven it is mystifying that so many people still believe in religion. If there were a god he wouldn't let so many people die in his name. Who is to say that there god is better than my god. The Bible is just a fictional witting when people didn't know the difference between fiction and non-fiction. When you die your brain just shuts off and you rot in a coffin!

Let me ask you this how do suppose the world started it didn't just appear, also for you saying there's no heaven or hell your totally wrong, let me just give an example like how flowers rebloom the leaves on the trees regrow every year they die but grow back and live again and again ,but people have choices to be right or wrong and will be judged by God when ever that day will be in that case people are given options to be saved, also there are many religions connected thru Jesus.

Jesus died for his beliefs and Hell is allegedly worse than death so if people are going to Hell because of what their beliefs, wouldn't that logically make them more admirable than him?

Well I'm a Catholic and the way i have been brought up is that God is Forgiving. But there must be exceptions to this for cases like Hitler and Benito Mussolini, but generally if you don't commit a serious crime or repeatedly break the 10 commandments I think that you shall have no-problem with getting into heaven!!

I wish a priest would make a debate point here......

you do not get to Heaven by just good works, you need to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour that He died on the cross to pay for the sins of the world so that we would be able to go to be with Him in heaven, and after He was crucified, He rose on the 3rd day, as it is written in the Bible. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believers in Him should not perish(going to hell for eternity) but have everlasting life(a life in heaven) John 3:16

also it is impossible to not break any of the 10 commandments and sin is not allowed into heaven or in the presence of God, and that is why Christ died, to cleanse us from all unrighteuosness, we just have to accept it, like i said before!!!!

Unfortunately that is not how god-lover was taught. It all boils down to teaching as there are rarely bad students without bad teachers. Whomever instilled this version of Catholicism on him did a huge disservice to those who are understanding of others and different belief structures. Without proof you may not tell other that they will suffer because you or who taught you say so. How narrow minded has this country become?

I like your ending question. It sometimes makes me laugh how narrow minded we are. Our world has been split into two different stereotypes. The Bible-Bashing, Narrow minded Christians, and the know-it-all, smarter-than-thou atheist. It would be really interesting to see how much of the population fits these two stereotypes and how many are shoved into the categories just by saying "I'm Christian" or "I'm atheist".

If you listen to fire and brimstone sermons on a regular basis then I can see how you might view hell and damnation as scary subjects. I recommend, however, that you take a different approach. Hell is not a physical place, there is probably no fire, no burning pits, no red lighting and none of the sinister imagery that Christians have often been taught to believe. Heaven and Hell exist outside of time and place. Try to imagine heaven as full communion with God, and hell as complete separation from Him.

I also don't think that you, I, or anyone else can know who will receive eternal life and who will not. Everyone lives their faith in different ways and it is very difficult to evaluate someone's personal relationship with God.

I agree with you. But the fact that there is an eternal separation is scarier than the fire and brimstone. I never get to see or hear from my creator, my father, ever again. That is a scary thought.

Christians, take a moment and consider exactly what it is Christianity is telling you (in church, in the bible etc). What it is saying is "if you don't believe in god he will punish you for all eternity in a massive place where there is always fire burning you, but if you do believe in god he will allow you to live in a place called Heaven where there are angels with pure white wings and streets paved with gold, and you can eat grapes all day on clouds with your lost relatives". Can you honestly not see the similarity between that and "Now little Jimmy, if you are naughty I will send you to your room without supper, but if you are good I will buy you a nice big ice-cream". I know I will get a comment saying how ludicrous this sounds, but think about it - you even call 'God' your 'Father'! Christianity is an extreme version of the parent-child relationship!

Sorry to rant; I don't mind people believing what they want to believe, but so many Christians have given me lectures of why I am going to the Bible's 'naughty-corner' (hell), I am starting to get extremely angry with how pathetic it all is.

I am sorry to sound so offensive, but I truly believe all Christians are brainwashed by their parents from birth. The sooner this world is free from the clutches of this dangerous belief we call religion, the sooner the world's suffering will end.

I can understand half your rant, that’s why I like this site. It gives you a chance to say exactly what you want to without splitting hairs. It’s a sad, but that is what the Bible says. Even a lot of my Christian friends struggle with it.
But the thing I really wanted to comment on was the brainwashing. I'm a Christian and trust me I have done research. I feel that if what you believe can't stand up to a few questions then it isn't worth believing. The truth will withstand all. I agree most people will go their entire life without questioning what they believe, whether is be a Christian, Muslim, Mormon, or Atheist. We as humans enjoy our comfort zone and don't like going outside of it. As a Christian I get a lot of crap. I get told I'm and idiot, that I have no understanding, that I was brainwashed, and a lot of the time made fun of. But I, like too many other souls (theistic or not), hold to what I believe because through my questioning I found truth. One important lesson I've learned though is that there are three categories that people can enter. 1) Discriminatory, 2) accepting, and 3) tolerant. I hope I'm the third, and hope more people will see the importance of this. You don't accept and believe what others say and give up your own beliefs, but you are willing to listen.

You know what's even scarier - the thought of there being absolutely nothing after death!! But it's what I believe.

But don't worry though, because you and I, and everyone else on this forum won't even know about it. Our brains will simply stop working - we have evidence for that!

As I’ve stated before, I’m surprised that some people believe the Christian faith is the only theistic viewpoint that there is. What leads you to blindly believe, God-lover, that your particular idea of “God’s Salvation” is the one everyone else has to accept in order to be “rescued” from eternal damnation? It’s quite foolish, and insulting to others, to assume that your opinion has a higher value than anyone else’s when addressing such a matter. If you didn't judge others by what they believed and simply accepted their decision to have their own personal opinion on subjects like this, you probably wouldn't have anything to be burdened with.

There isn't any god or hell so you needn't trouble yourself. However, the fact that you even think about something like that shows that you have some residue of goodness in you, even though you probably hate homosexuals and vote for war, death and torture at every opportunity.

So let me ask you this : Are you really saying that if a person was virtuous and kind, never did a wrong to anyone in his or her life, but simply was not a practitioner of the Christian faith, or perhaps had never even heard of it, that he or she would be sent to hell for eternal damnation? The formal acceptance of a religious doctrine outweighs the living of a virtuous life?

well Hidell, no matter what you say, there is a heaven and a hell, and God does exist!!!! Also, as a Christian, i must say that i do not hate people i just dislike the stuff that they do, but like i said, it's not the person, it's the problem, and do you really think that homosexuality is right, if it was intended then stick two women on a deserted island and see if they can repopulate, if they cannot i know it was not intended, also God said that homosexuality is wrong and He created man and woman for each other as one man with one woman!!! and as for war, i am not old enough to vote so i have no say in that, but for like the Iraq war, would you rather have it fought here or in Iraq.

now for your other question, i know that just "good" people will go to hell, no doubt about it!!! it says in John 3:16, " For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God that whosoever believeth in Him should NOT PERISH but have everlasting life."
