I am an atheist and i believe that it is a religion just as much as Christianity is |

I have actually wondered about this topic you bring up myself before.
Actually?
Well, I just think that God, created all things. God wants to have a relationship with us, His
creation.
And if you can conceive of this idea, wrap your mind around it,......feel it.
I think, that is just might be possible to learn how to do.
Through time, and wisdom, and age, and possibly Prayer. |

It's not that everyone should or not, it's more like everyone does, like it or not. Religion is a
faith based belief. Atheist believe there is no God, since they do not have infinite knowledges of
the universe it takes faith to believe there is no God. |

Depending on how you define "religion", I agree. A religion is a system of beliefs and/or an
arrangement of rituals and practices. Everyone has a set of things they believe in, whether it is
God or the Democratic Party, and everyone has a set of behaviors they value, whether praying or
going bowling (does anyone bowl anymore?). Only people who believe in nothing, value nothing,
possess nothing, and engage in no regular behaviors are truly dangerous and deranged. |

Sure, why not. You can't get around having beliefs, atheism is a religion too. (For the record, I'm
a Roman Catholic) |

That's people's religion though, by not having one, I'm a mix between Christian, Unitarian, and a
pantheon, but you always have a belief by thinking what you think. |

Some people can't be happy that way.
If you don't need to believe that an all-powerful being is watching over you to feel safe in this
world, then you really don't need religion for anything. |

The only people who should have a religion are those who agree with a religion.
While this would seemingly be obvious, many people claim religions while having little knowledge of
what the religions actually stand for.
We all know people who say, "I'm this religion but I don't necessarily agree with all the
teachings". This statement is worse than it seems. If the person was to study the religion in
question they would likely find even more profound things they didn't "necessarily" believe in.
Atheists aren't the only ones who hear arguments based on "it's true because the book the religion
is based on says so". Many people in religions are answered in this manner when asking tough
questions.
Fact is, many people embrace religions and do little to know what their religion is. This is a human
condition. It exists in all walks of life. Politics is a great example. Most people do very little
study and become quite founded in their political beliefs.
It's not good for politics and it is even worse for religion. The general population of religions
become the secular definition of the religions. Religions are judged by the secular world according
to the effects they have on their general membership.
In short, there are two different religions for every religion. The religion of the people who know
the religion and the religion of the people who generally accept some generic pieces of the
religion.
So no, people should not have a religion unless they know what the religion is and agree with it.
They shouldn't agree with it unless it's perfect. That's gonna narrow the field down quite a bit. |

No. You all will more than likely know that I am Atheist, and so this is very much a topic I can
sink my teeth into.
I've seen a comment saying atheism is a religion. First, what makes a religion? A chruch? Well,
there's one we don't have. Do we have something we worship? No. We just support the general idea
that an all-powerful, omniscient being did not create the universe and Earth. Do we raise children
to be Atheist? Well, that's 50/50. We (as I will one day) choose, instead, to raise a child free
from bias and ground-in ideals, so they are free to choose a religion of their own. So, summarized,
I don't believe Atheism is a religion anymore than Agnosticism, for example.
Now, to be on subject. Why force a free-thinking, unbiased person to conform to a set of ideals?
Anyway, not everybody needs a religion. Can't somebody just as easily worship an all-powerful god,
Jesus Christ, Buddha, Hindu gods, etc., without being subjected to the combination of a group of
people? People shouldn't be labeled (Especially by what we believe), because we are individual,
free-thinking human beings (As I stated earlier). So..Yes, I'm against the opinion that everybody
should belong to a religion. |

Why should everyone have a religion>? Basing their lives on something that has no facts? People
argue that having faith can better them, but you can still have morals and not believe in a god. The
whole concept causes friction and conflict throughout the world, and i think that if people had
their own for of faith without so many guidelines and rules then life would be so much better and
people would not be outcasted. |

Yessssss i am really against it because its like forcing someone one to have to have a religion
which is a crime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I believe this to be a false proposal as people have the choice to follow a certain religion or to
have no religion and i believe that they should not be forced into having a religion! |

If people want to have a religion, then they can, YOU CAN'T force someone to have a religion.
I myself am a strong catholic, and i don't believe everyone should have a religion |

Strong atheism can imply adhering to a belief without empirical evidence. However at best that
qualifies it as a philosophy. I’m often accused of being an atheist which is not strictly true.
I’m more of an Apatheist. The question of god bores me and is entirely irrelevant to my beliefs,
ethics, and morality. The eighteenth century French philosopher Denis Diderot, when accused of being
an atheist, replied that he simply did not care whether God existed or not. In response to Voltaire,
he wrote,
"It is very important not to mistake hemlock for parsley; but not at all so to believe or not in
God."
If the subject of god does not concern me then religion of a necessity would come under the same
category. |

We have already seen what a lovely place the world is when government is forcing religion down your
throat. Google "inquisition", "Salem witchcraft trials" or "protestantism". |

Why should we have a religion. Christianity is basically asking a outside force to help and save
you. I would rather help myself then rely on something out of my power. |

Atheism isn't a religion, no more so than liking cheese is a religion. I disagree because, for me,
religion serves no purpose whatsoever. |
| |
|
| |
|

Its up to the person. Religious people shouldn't force a religion on someone because they say its
right and everything else is wrong |
