Ain't if funny how things never change? Every empire has arrogantly thought, or just plain lied to
the world, that their "empire" was good and just and would bring enlightenment to other nations.
Empires have always done the same things everywhere: Invade other countries to steal wealth and
increase the wealth and power of their own nations.
Whether it was the Sumerians, the Babylonians, the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Phonecians, the
Persians, the Romans, the christians, the Ottomans, the Spanish, the Dutch, the Austro-Hungarian
empire, the Russians, the Bismarcks, the Portuguese, the French, the Dutch, the Italians, the
Japanese, the British and most recently, the US, all have been guilty of the same crimes against
other nations.
The only emporers in history who have ever been able to make the claim of doing good for other
nations were Siddhartha Guatama (aka Buddha) and the emporer Charlemagne. But even the
enlightenment and freedoms they brought to other people and nations died when they did, so it has
never lasted.
Even Genghis Khan was a sweetheart compared to other empire builders. After he took over a country,
he only demanded taxes and loyalty. Countries were free to keep their cultures and lifestyles, and
in some cases, Genghis helped to spread knowledge of such cultures to other regions. |
