| Designer Dogs Compromise Breeding Standards And Are Overpriced Mutts. |
| I've had it with this view point. Most people who own a poo-mix don't care if the dog is a purebred. These people want a pet with specific characteristics Minimal shedding, small size, a particular look or color....whatever the reason, it is no less valid than the reason people have for purchasing a particular purebred dog. Further....the argument that these designer dogs somehow make it worse for the sheltered dogs....well, the same argument could be made for purebred dogs. If breeders stop breeding purebreds, all of the dogs in the shelters will have homes. |

Breeders compromise breeding standards looking to make a buck. I know not all of them are puppy
mills but when one dog is worth 2000$ you’re going to have people trying to make money off of it.
In my opinion mutts are usually better animals so comparing designer dogs to mutts rather than
purebreds is a compliment. As for the dogs looking for adoption that problem stems from stupid
people who don’t take responsibility for their own animals. Although I have never understood why
someone would pay that kind of money for a dog when for 40$ you can go to the pound and have your
pick of hundreds of different dogs. Anyway, all dog breeds except dingoes and coyotes were designed
by humans at one point or another. They are all the same species and they can all breed successfully
so whatever breed characteristics are in them were specifically bred towards by humans somewhere and
at some point. |
