Everything was cool as far as Christianity was concerned, and everything made sense. Then suddenly
along came Darwin and his Theory of Evolution. Overnight Christianity was turned on its head and
there was panic, outrage and fear. Oh no! Darwin had killed God! Now all that is left for these
deluded individuals is to avoid using the bible as much as possible as it no longer makes sense.
They now resemble mice in a cornfield, huddling together in an ever-decreasing patch of corn as the
combine harvester of logic and reason relentlessly reduces what remains of their delusion. |

God is an idea that people use to explain their existence, and Darwin was smart enough to look past
that rather than just accept what everyone else did blindly. So yes, Derwin killed the idea of god.

He would have certainly changed the way a lot of people thought about god and religion and whether
or not it was true and if they should take it seriously anymore. So you could say that he delivered
a mortal blow or started quite a lot of rot, yes. |

You can not disprove God.
If there is no God, why is there something rather than nothing?
Where did the material from the universe come from?
Describe the evolution of DNA?
Some people believe God used evolution to create man. |

How did he kill God? He merely came up with a theory of how people came to be. It made sense. And
how can you be so sure that God is real? If he were real, the world wouldn't be as screwed up as it
is today, and people would be more knowledgeable about the mysteries of life.
If you expect me to believe that whole Adam and Eve hoopla, then you're dead wrong. There's no way
that I'm going to believe that the people on this very Earth came to be by way of incest. |

It's almost funny- your debate. Macroevolution, which he got credit for, does not mention deity nor
does it exclude deity's existence- only deity's active role in the process of evolution. |

As brilliant as I find Darwin you cannot give him the prestigious position of having killed God.
Firstly I do not believe that you can kill something that doesn't exist, but that is just my
personal opinion (please don't kill me for saying that people). On a more general level however
something like way over a billion people around the world believe in a God so therefore he has
hardly killed God. |

You probably don't even know who DARWIN is LOL |

If your god can be killed by the progression of knowledge, it was never real in the first place.

Darwin fell on his face and saw the troubles of his theory, a micro world which he hadn't been sure
of existed, and lack of fossil records that you would think would be abundant over 4.5 billion
years, and the only possible yet unlikely form of evolution would be periodic evolution. But
Evolutionists and Scientists regrouped and thinking on the idea changed their position, sitting on
it. Darwin wasn't the first to ponder evolution but was definitely on the popular side when
proposing an idea that seemed to flow everything together by his theories. Darwin was brilliant and
his research [limited to what his eyes offered] was extensive. |

1) You can' t say either God or religion are dead if large swaths of the world population still
believe in them, and clearly they do. 2) You mainly focus on Christians but they're just a small
part of the world religious. Darwin didn't kill Buddha or Confucious or even the Scientologists,
and on and on. 3) Darwin is just one player among many who shook the foundations of the religious.
4) Factors within religion itself are just as much responsible for it's downfall as any outsider
argument like evolution. Contradictions between the Old and New Testament, hints at racism or
sexism, highly restrictive rules, and even the natural human desire to think and choose for
ourselves all have eroded the strength of religion. It was not simply Darwin or science.
And for the record I'm not a holy roler, in fact I'm often one of the more vocal critics against
religious dogma on this site. I just don't think your statement is accurate. |

Yeah, the religious institutions had a good thing going with all the wonderful cathedrals, child
rapes from priest, mega churches with preachers living in huge homes and private planes. Yep, it
messed up a good thing. Fear of death is a good money maker for the religious. It pays very well. |

Okay... I don't quite agree with Cephus... I believe in god. BUT evolution and god aren't
incompatible! Christianity would be so much better off it Christians could say "Hey, maybe the bible
isn't 100% true. Hey, maybe it was based on folklore. I don't really believe that god GAVE US THE
RAINBOW SO HE WOULDN"T TRY TO DROWN THE ENTIRE WORLD.... Like the reason that whites are white is
because they were baked in a furnace for not long enough, and blacks for to long, but Indians for
just right... Myth is beautiful, sometimes even more beautiful than the truth (although something
can be true as Mythology) heck, jews around Jesus's time didn't take genesis as completely true.
Their teachers didn't even say the same story from day to day! And, uh, Christianity wasn't turned
upside down overnight. It took like forty years, AND Christians had to make a big deal about it
before anyone really cared! |

Sure, Christianity was doing just fine, wandering around, lost in their delusions, then REALITY came
along and really spoiled the show.
Darwin didn't kill God. You can't kill what doesn't exist in the first place. |
