Cromford Was The Birthplace Of The Industrial Revolution.
There are many different disputed birthplaces of the Industrial Revolution which began in Britain. However, what constitutes the beginning of a revolution, and did Sir Richard Arkwright begin the Industrial Revolution with his mills in Cromford in the 1770's?

Even though he basically amalgamated several other ideas from different sites (industrial production - Coalbrookdale, mass production - Derby Silk Mill), his was the biggest and best of the time. If such a revolution can have a birthplace, it was there.

Well well, GCSE History comes in useful after all.

I have written a 10 page essay on this subject, in which I came to the conclusion that Cromford was not the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. I instead found that Cromford was a catylist for the coming events, and that no one place can classify as the birthplace.
