Community Service Should Be Required For High School Graduation
They should do away with standardized tests and require students to complete 80+ hours of community service as a graduation requirement.

Standardized tests really aren't the best way to test a student's ability. I did 120 hours of community service last year and it's really not that hard. In fact it's really good because you gain experience in serving others.

I agree. As long as students have passing grades, standardized tests can be thrown out the window. Community service plays a very important role to a teenager. It teaches them that there is a lot they can do in their own communities to make a difference. If this was required to graduate, students would learn many other valuable lessons for their everyday life.

I think that all students should have to complete some community service projects before they graduate from high school. There are many community service jobs such as work at a hospital, work at a soup kitchen, missionary work, and more. This would be a better option than having them pass a standardized test (that is probably too hard anyway). Community service teaches the student responsibility and it also teaches them about issues and situations that are taking place in the real world. Some students may even decide on or become interested in a career through doing community service jobs. Therefore, I believe that community service is a great idea for graduation requirements. It would be way more beneficial than taking standardized tests.

Standardized tests really aren't that hard. Most people pass them where I'm from. And a lot of the time (not all the time, but a lot of the time) if they don't pass them it's because they just don't care.

The purpose of high school is to get an academic education.

Schools should be about academic attainment only. It's wrong to try and turn them into brain-washing factories where the state imposes its will on the people. That sounds creepy, like something out of North Korea.
