In the U.S. It's Way too expensive. I would love to finish my degree but I fall in the lovely
category of "makes to much for a grant, but doesn't make enough to pay for it". If I were a single
woman and not married the Government would pay for it all. I guess my husband's 25k a year job makes
us independently wealthy enough to afford 20k a year in school. I won't finance it... I believe
debt is a crippling thing. |

The topic is, "colleges are way too expensive....." In the US the cost of college has increased
over the past 20 years faster than the cost of health care. So, I agree with the premise that going
to college is way too expensive for the average family. It is interesting to look at the reasons
for the rapid escalation of college expense. Probably the greatest reason is the increased demand,
because our government has pumped a lot of money into low interest college loans scholarships based
on need and grants, etc. For families that don't qualify for grants, scholarships based on need and
low interest loans, it seems quite unfair. However, it is hard to argue against more folks getting
a higher education, although if "postmodernism" continues to be the campus philosophy of the times,
then perhaps more harm than good is coming out of our "ivory towers." |

They should still go to college. HOWEVER, I completely agree the colleges as a whole have raised
their prices too high. |
