I assume you refer to cloning in the animal kingdom because very few people seem upset by the idea
of cloning plant strains (other than within the context of environmental impact). And while I hardly
think it is the best thing science has achieved, I do think it is a key part of the modern
biological sciences and has greatly contributed to our practical understanding of the nature of
genetics. I think I can also safely say that this particular branch of research has much more to
offer before it’s done.
I’m also leery of society forcing its own priorities on R&D in general. While there has to be
certain moral and practical limitations it is a mistake to overly limit the inquisitive endeavors of
the human species. |
