Cloned Meat Should Not Be Sold
According to FDA, cloned meat is safe to consume, however, would you allow food from cloned animals appear in the market? And would you buy it? The fact is the time for cloned meat being sold seems not far away, for more details, please see this article.

Does cloned meat even exist? Well if it does, then yea, it should not be sold!

I agree with this. Dolly the sheep had only about half the lifespan of a normal sheep because she got a lung infection. And the sickness rate in cloned animals is far higher than in normal animals, so I don't think we really want to be eating them.

It's also worth mentioning that if cloning is accepted, meat producers will standardize on clones of specific animals so they can guarantee the same taste experience each time. This reduces the genetic diversity of the animal stock and makes them more vulnerable to shocks to the system, such as diseases. When such a shock occurs, instead of doing only a little damage to the small portion of the stock which is vulnerable to it, it does catastrophic damage to almost the entire stock, because almost the entire stock has the same genes and therefore the same vulnerabilities.

I have just seen this on the news tonight and its really upsetting to me. The fact that the FDA can say that its safe then decide that it isn't necessary to have labels on the meat saying that it is a clone is quite scary. It seems as tho the govt is trying to shove it down our throats with out thinking about what the public opinion is. The whole scenario is still quite new and with out further testing over a prolong period of time i think its dangerous and it shows exactly in what standing the govt holds its masses compared to the amounts of money that would be generated in.
The FDA doesn't exactly have a great past record with so many recalls on drugs that now seem to have caused and to still be causing numerous diseases.

Why should it not be sold? U said it urself. It is safe. And also, there would be a way for us to eat meat without killing any animals.and it dosent affect the animals at all. Also, really expensive meat could be cloned, and the price would go doown, and everybody would be able to taste it.

I really don't see why not. If a perfectly fit and healthy animal is sold as meat after being cloned, then the clone can be eaten as well without fear of any infection or other random thing happening. A clone is GENETICALLY IDENTICAL IN EVERY WAY. If you can't eat the clone then you can't eat the animal that was cloned.

The FDA says it is safe, and I'm fine with what they say. But we should have labels stating the the meat is cloned.

Never fear, the FDA will still require labels.

I most honestly do not understand how the cloning of these animals could be justified but eating them is somehow disgusting. There doesn't seem to be anything unnatural about the meat itself. I would think it's just synthetic meat, or "cloned" meat. I suppose, not having read the link to that article, I'm pretty undereducated, but how can you authorize and condone cloning animals without already having all these offshooting issues already sorted out?
But if the cloning had been done, I couldn't imagine what would be wrong with the meat? Not a vegetarian myself, I do suppose this makes it clearer to understand exactly what is sickening about eating livestock... Er deadstock... Er cloned-stock? Baby canary... Woodstock! Gross...
:) that link to the article doesn't work

As the name says that cloned meat comes from cloned animals. Though it is still not that much available in the market but the FDA has assured us that cloned meat will not be harmful to us in any respect. There will be absolutely no problem in having cloned meat. Still there is a doubt in many around as to whether this cloned meat will be really good for us or not. As we all know that cloned animals are not born in the very natural process and rather they are scientifically cloned to become one, so it generally works in our sub-conscious mind that the meat of such animals may not be good. Such meat should not be sold in the market but on the contrary when scientific tests are giving you the security then it is for sure that they will not be harmful either.
