Cleaners Employed In Prisons
Hi Would be interested to hear your opinions on the following ad in my local Nottingham UK Journal Cleaner (SGB2) 11,892 - 13,000 per annum pro rata HMP Stocken has vacancy up to 35 hours per week. 25 days annual leave, plus, 10.5 days public and privilege holidays per annum. Flexible working hours. Prisoners should clean their own prisons,I have to clean my house. Cleaning is not degrading we all have to do it. How much tax payers money is spent on this? Jump to Page: 1

When cleaners are employed to clean public areas like malls and even roads why is hiring prison cleaners such a big issue? Prisoners have other jobs that are part of their punishment and they are not living a life of luxury over there. I think it would be unreasonable to demand that prisoners clean their own cells and work on the prisoner jobs as well.

Providing these prisoners with clean cells is not a luxury by any means it is simply their right.

 Prisoners do have rights , but they are in there for a reason and cleaning there own cells should be part of that,they aren't there for a holiday.....

Who would clean the room with all the keys in it? If you let prisoners do it, they could grab them and run out.

 We employ prison officers to guard prisoners 24/7 so why not when they are cleaning?

Yes, i am against to spend tax money on employing prison clearners. Too much luxory in the prison here: Tv, exercise, and free food.
