Clapton was/is a good guitarist, but he was the third best of the Yardbirds' guitarists. Page and
Beck have been far more influential and interesting in their post-Yardbirds careers.
Think back to the "guitar tour" of the 1990s when Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jeff Healey were
playing on the same bill. After a show, Clapton gave up his seat in a helicopter so Stevie Ray
Vaughn could leave early for the next show.
Vaughn had cleaned up his life and had started making his best music when the crash killed him, his
last two albums. Meanwhile, Clapton later made "Tears In Heaven".
Clearly, there is no justice in this world.
