Circumcision Is Not A Medically Necessary Procedure For Infant Males
There are both benefits and risks to circumcision, which is actually something that a lot of people don’t know when making the decision to circumcise their newborn. However, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association both found that there was an insufficient amount of viable evidence to recommend neonatal circumcision. I challenge an advocate of circumcision to present to me a scientifically and medically accurate pro of the procedure’s results that cannot be found within any other therapeutic method.

My brother, my nephew, and I have a) never had an infection or b) been struck by lightning for our heresy. And I’m not going to go into details but I am very glad my father felt he didn’t have the right to make that decision for another man. One kid did try to make fun of me in the locker room when I was in high school; I asked him why he was spending so much time examining my equipment. He left me alone after that. If I ever have a boy I will certainly follow in the family tradition.

At this point...I think it's mostly done for cosmetic reasons. People simply don't want their sons to be made fun of in the school showers.

We wouldn't have a foreskin if we didn't need it. It protects the sensitive.....things.

Of course. It's a good general rule that we're born with all our body parts for a reason. There's no medical necessity to start cutting parts off after birth other than the umbilical cord itself.

It might not be but that isn't to say it is problematic.

Yea, but it's done because of religion

A lot of the time, yes, it is. I just wanted others to know that there is no medical reason for it really. Since some on this site seemed determined to prove otherwise previously, I thought I'd give them the chance to.

Circumcision Would have happened in males naturally as they grow anyways.

As boys grow older and mature their penis become larger than the actual size of the tip of their foreskin.

This causes the foreskin to rip and bleed and has a high risk of infection and Pain. Especially during an erection.

So how do you define what is "medically Necessary"
Getting stitches or putting band aid on a cut is not medically necessary because our cuts will eventually heal but, it does reduce the risks of infection and the spreading of diseases.

I’ve never heard or read anything like what you claim about circumcision happening naturally in all males, nor does it even sound scientifically accurate (unless you're speaking about penile cancer or STDs). Also, concerning the definition of the phrase “medically necessary”, I meant that it is not a required procedure for infant males who demonstrate no signs of needing the operation at the time.

At least the infant won't remember the procedure, unlike my friend who had to be circumcised at the age of 21 for medical reasons. He lived in the apartment next door, and my boyfriend and I apparently were too vocally amorous, and he popped all his stitches.

Your post seems like it belongs on the agreeing side of this debate, unless I misunderstood the point you were trying to get across. When I used the phrase “medically necessary” in my debate's heading, I only meant it to apply to newborns without any medical problems, not adults.
