Christians Who Support War And Claim To Live By The Bible Are Lying.
"Thou shalt not kill" is a phrase I hear so often by anti-abortionists, and yet I'm sure most of them are in support of the war in Iraq. This just doesn't agree with what they say, since war does actually count as killing.

I agree. Where did the "love your neighbor and enemy" idea go? You love them and you kill them? I understand that this issue is complex, yet I still cannot support wars nor accept them as justice, especially those that were claimed to be "in the name of Christ".

Every Christian will have to admit that their Holy text has so many contradictions and different interpretations that it is hard to pin down exactly what they are banging on about half the time. Lets keep it simple shall we? Christians are entitled to believe whatever they want to believe, as are Hindus, Budhists, Muslims and Scientologists (yes, even them). The point is, do not press your beliefs upon me or anyone else. Believe in your God, worship him as you wish, but do not tell me white is black and black is white and expect me to concede. I will not do it and neither will any other free thinking spirit on this planet. Keep your religion, you can have it. Keep your racism, war, murder, oppression, small-mindedness and schools of hatred. If Jesus Christ were alive today, presuming he was a decent enough kind of guy, he would be ashamed of you all...

Up yours.

Goodbye.

Christians that preach about not killing and them support a war that is killing alot more people, actual peoplethan abortions, are hypocrites. They are indeed lying and need to be called out on it. These are not true Christians.

Around three years ago I was in a Starbucks and 2 Christians were sitting at a nearby table. They discussed their churches (formerly they had attended the same church). They discussed a kids' program they were working on. They discussed their families. Then their conversation turned to the war. "Know what I think we should do?" asked one of them. "Drop the Bomb on Mecca during Ramadan."

Perfectly true. And most of them are rabid supporters of the death penalty too. They ignore Christ's teachings about turning the other cheek but seize on ridiculous verses in the old testament to justify their bigotries.

The issue is much more complex than everyone seems to make it out to be. There is biblical support for and against war. The concept of the Just War can kind of be biblical. For instance, loving your neighbor may mean killing your neighbor's enemy. What always comes to mind is WWII. Christians absolutely should have fought against Hitler's regime. When millions are being slaughtered, it is the Christian's duty to defend them. When Hussein is bulldozing Kurds, it is the Christian's responsibility to defend them.

Self-defense, on the other hand, is not quite as biblical. Turning the other cheek applies here. When you're walking down some dark alley way (for some reason), and someone tries to mug you, then peacefully take the beating and give him your wallet. If, however, someone else is being mugged, then put your life on the line to get the one being mugged out of the fight and into safety. The same applies at the political level. Christians should never be aggressors. They should always be defenders, especially if it is not themselves they are defending.

Jesus states in Matthew to obey the government, whether you agree or not. It is not the decision of Christians, but of The President and whatnot.

But I would think that "Thou shalt not kill" would outweigh one's support for their government. Would you personally go and fight to kill?

As Ozzieman has showed, your post isn't an argument. Quote the bible, give reasons. Don't just state you are right.

You're confused as is the first person who responded in favor. Both of you need to read the BIBLE cover to cover and word for word, Old Testament and New Testament before making such claims. I can tell by your confusion that you are so ignorant of what you think you know. What you think you know is what you have been brain washed with, by our society. Nothing in the world is more rabid, ridiculous and bigotrious than the world we live in. So, that being said....pick up the BIBLE and sort the truth for yourself.
