As religiously deiscriminatory it may seem, and i mean no dis-respect to those of religious beliefs,
the sole reason for the creation of a "GOD" character was to explain things that could not be
explained throguh traditional means. The ancient "GODS" of the past were made to explain things like
lightning, fire, and death, phenomenons that the ancient incas, aboriginals, etc, could not explain
themselves. Thus the creation of "GOD". God is simply a answer to questions that are unanswerable. |

I agree, george bush is a prime example. Killing people with gods blessings and all the rest of the
fony things he says. When a nuke is dropped on a country, theyll say (the christians) those people
deserved to die god meant for it to happen. |

There is no part of the Christian religion that would promote using God as an object of blame.
Certainly, one may not like all the attributes of the Christian God, but he is theologically without
blame for evil and suffering. If I were to make up a divine being, I probably would invent more of
a sugar Daddy or vending machine in the sky; and not the God of Christianity.......however, I'm sure
the god of my invention would end up being worthy of plenty of blame. |

From a rationalist Christian perspective, there is no such thing as a blatant fact,
And how do you explain people blaming God for when things go right yes tromanator you are to
atheists what beki is to theists.... Just plain dum. But i accept your argument and repel it just
because its so weak an argument. |

Tromanator, this is complete BULL! I think that you are a small minded idiot that doesn't know any
thing about Christians. I have a God because I honestly believe he exists and it makes me really
angry to have my religion insulted. You should take that back right now! |

Although I'm usually part of debate challenges to religious beliefs I think the blame explanation is
an oversimplification. I'd agree that some of the most extremely religious do occasionally point to
victims and say God is punishing them, or also they may act violently to create victims based on
punishing them in the name of God. But in reality it's a pretty small subset of the religious (in
any religion - not just Christianity) who would make such bold statements or actions.
My counter theory is people hold to their religious beliefs because they're scared to consider the
alternative (either no God, or that they're in the wrong denomination), and the tighter the death
grip they hold on those views the more fear they actually have about the chance they're wrong.
And I'll admit I'm a Christian. But I believe the core teachings of Jesus were about love and
tolerance - as well ironically as questioning the churches (Jesus spoke out a whole lot about Jewish
religious doctrine of his day). Frankly people who challenge the legitimacy of church doctrine
while also trying to live as good people are probably closer to the teachings of Christianity than
the judgmental and closed minded holy rolers who want us all to comply or else. |

For me, believing in the existence of God has nothing to do with blame. Its kind of like
this......
Most people would accept as true the fact that the chair they are sitting on right now exists.
There is plenty of evidence in their mind that the chair exists. It is as simple as that for me.
Through my 33 years I have experienced, learned, and seen enough to prove the existence of God. So,
for me to say "there is no God" would be like the person sitting in the chair to say "there is no
chair."
From a non-Christians perspective, I am inclined to think kddan is right. Christians, by necessity,
believe God is good and therefore would not cast blame on him.
Tromanator, do you have any Christian friends? |

I agree with you to an extent but these hardcore Christians tend not to blame God for anything. They
tend to praise God for things that happen no matter how bad they are. The Westboro Baptist Church
are a good example of this and other right wing Christians movements also do this. |
