If the government didn't make laws for children and work, there would be some kids who had parents
that made them work. Not only that, but some kids would not be mature enough at 12 and might work
despite having bad grades. I don't really think that it's fair to force kids into jobs. At 13,
kids to get their working papers signed by their parents. There are certain jobs that kids are not
allowed to do even then, but that is due to safety restrictions. No one under 18 was allowed to
work at the vet that I worked at because of the liability if they were hurt. Parents would be suing
like crazy if their child was hurt on the job. Employers have to protect themselves too. There is
enough litigation already in society. I think there are jobs that 12 year old can do and they are
listed on the other side. Those odd jobs are acceptable and many people would gladly pay a kid to
do some yardwork or a little bit of housework. If a kid is serious about working for some spending
money, I think that is a great thing and suggest that they go to their parents and offer to do some
work around the house for money. I kind of agree about the paper route...not my cup of tea either.
If not your parents, I am sure that there are neighbors who would love someone who could come over
and give them a hand. As long as the parents feel safe about the neighbor, it's a way to make some
money and help someone at the same time. I have had my neighbor's daughter help me clean and I pay
her very well for it. I would have to pay if I got a cleaning lady, so I do pay her for well or
anything she gives me a hand with. My kids don't like to clean, so I have had to seek the help of
their friend. I don't know how long they are going to remain OK with money they could earn going to
someone else, but I suspect for a long while. They do help at other things and get paid by my
mother, sister and brother in law. They do all kinds of things aside from cleaning. I think that
the idea on the other side about pet walking and pet sitting is a very good one. When we go away, I
have three dogs who all love kids. They are all small dogs that can't pull a kid down the driveway
or cause them to fall with pulling on the lead. I would way prefer to have someone I know caring
for them. I don't put the one in a kennel ever because of how little she is and how frightened she
gets, but I don't like putting the other ones in either. I think these examples are good ways for
kids to make money without having to be tied to a job and not being able to enjoy being a kid. When
you are older, you will not want to get up and go to work every day. Even if you are one of the few
people who love to be at work, there are so many adults who are overstressed and who end up totally
overwhelmed combining jobs with family and other responsibilities. Don't be in a hurry to grow up.
You should enjoy your childhood. You don't get another one. |

There's a reason you're not allowed to work at a demanding job until you 16, BECAUSE YOUR NOT
RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH.....you haven't even hit puberty yet and already you want to hop into it....ya u
need money but money isn't everything, why do you need money to so bad, what do you need really,
just to waste and useless things that you'll forget about in a year or two?? Come on, there are more
important things when your 12 yrs old like girls TV video games and sports, DO NOT GET A JOB YOU
WILL REGRET IT......your young take advantage of that there will be enough time to work when you're
older....for gods sake your 12, where can you work that any reasonable adult will take you
seriously??? |
